The very awesome Evergreen Air & Space Museum in McMinnville, Oregon . . . . that's the Spruce Goose.

An amazing array of older and modern aircraft, both inside and outside. Well worth the trip, although I was there to run a half-marathon and then spent a day a few days in Seattle at Bumbershoot, the music & arts festival . . . . .

. . . . where the questionable nurse above, who'd helped this chap light his smoke, was part of the act for "Brent Amber & The Rodeo . . . "

Below, Le Duck, Beaver Lake, Stanley Park, Vancouver.

Below, Fall, west of Turner Valley . . . .

That is awesome... I had no concept of the size of the Spruce Goose, it is freakin' massive! Sorta-related trivia: Mosquito Lake on the Queen Charlotte Islands is named for the Mosquito bombers that it provided spruce to.

Fall colours over the Sheep River, west of Turner Valley.

Also out west, a vast improvement from the dead zone for Fall colours from last year . . . .

and two-footed Polly, our terrifying handicapped cat (if you ask the dogs), at our place . . . .

Amazing to see autumn in full swing in Calgary. Here in Montreal the trees are still mostly green. I'll post some pics when the leaves turn though. Probably the prettiest time of year here.

Tried to do an HDR from Max Bell Arena after shooting some hockey one night, the HDR didn't work (sans tripod) but one of the exposures worked. Still deciding if I like the photo or not. Was last Wednesday.

I can see why you wanted to do an HDR.

Nice pic Jayems!

I read online a way of taking your original (has to be a RAW file) and using Photoshop to create the different exposures yourself; be sure not to save over top of your original. Then take the different exposures you created and combine with Photomatix to create the HDR. The guy recommends doing it this way instead of bracketing (especially with foilage) so nothing has changed in the image. Think he used something like 10 different exposures with .6 seperating each.

Sorry, I don't have a link or anything but the sample he did turned out really well. I haven't tried it myself really except to test the concept that it would work. Heck I just got my first DSLR less than 2 months ago and didn't even know what an HDR image was until recently.

I've tried it (funny someone else had the same idea). I abandoned it though since I found the results to be too noisy. Could just be me though, I'm not big on HDR, usually I try to make them pretty subtle; I don't like the cartoon effect that some of them have.

Any chance I could get the original size, to use as my wallpaper?

yeah, i'll email you the big file when i get home without the © on the bottom.

But it's a weird crop. It probably wouldn't fit very well as a wallpaper unless you had a wide screen or had space at the top and bottom.

There were cars directly below (you can see the deerfoot sign on the right) that really took away from the photo. The crop is on purpose, obviously.

Yeah, I have a 24" widescreen, so it should fit decently.
