Yeah, I just don't think swapping one senile old man for another is exactly "best" for the country. "Better" sure, but I wish they'd aim higher.

Honestly it doesn't matter what we think is best...not this time

and "better" is massive understatement IMO.

You can be more liberal with the running mate, anyone is a massive upgrade on Pence

The rumour mill has Javanka looking to oust Pence and put a woman in so they can try and convince suburban voters to come back since they have no real reason to.

I guess I don't follow American politics enough to understand how Biden can be a front runner to so many voters. The guy looks like he can barely remember where he parked his car. Anytime I've heard him speak publicly, he gives me the impression he's really struggling just to remember simple talking points.

He is the most well known candidate therefore is the front runner. With 20 candidates in the field it’s really a name recognition question not an opinion question. As they get to 5 or less I think you will get more evaluation than just name recognition.

I mentioned it in the post above about why Pence might be ousted, but it's all about suburban voters. Urban voters lean strongly Dem, rural voters lean strongly GOP. The difference is usually how the suburbs vote. They lean slightly to the right, primarily on fiscal issues. So to them a Bernie or Warren is scary, whereas a Biden is close to status quo.

He's associated with Obama. And outside the activist wing of the party, Obama is still tremendously popular with Democrats.

Competence seems to be nowhere near the top of the list when it comes to what Americans look for from their politicians

Debate of the top 10 candidates on ABC. Just one comment.

#### I love Mayor Pete. The guy is inspirational to listen to. I hope he get a bigger office soon to prove that he's ready to be president.

Pete looked kind of annoyed at Yang's "I'm giving away my campaign donations to random people" thing.

Biden keeps looking down, presumably reading his opening, not a great look.

Warren and Sanders doing just an okay job of explaining their health care models. Lots of vague ideas, but not enough specifics. The question Biden put to them is seeming to stick a little.

Biden putting the screws to them now on the rebuttal.

Warren totally dodges the first question and doesn't answer about middle class taxes.

Bernie sounds really sick, but his response is energized and pretty good.

Klobuchar, so far, has raised her hands about six times in five minutes.

This is actually crazy, so far we're about ten minutes in and the entire debate is between the top 3. Biden spoke, then warren spoke, then Bernie spoke, then Biden spoke, then Warren spoke, then Bernie spoke. No one else has had a chance.

So far this resembles a debate... between three people, with about 13 moderators.

Because the details regarding tax obligations will result in glazed-over eyes.

Plus, people need to consider the health insurance premium as a tax, but most don’t, so the tax issue is going to be misunderstood by most.

It's still a dodge. And the answer is, "if your taxes go up and your premiums go down a heck of a lot more, you're better off. And under my plan, you'll be better off". Not that hard.
