I wouldn't trade Hamilton for a draft pick unless it was a guaranteed player like Matthews or Laine or Eichel which isn't likely to happen. For the most part draft picks are magic beans, you're usually better off keeping a star player. I'd only consider trading him for a top 3 centre or wing really. Hate to say it but if someone has to go it's probably Hamonic.

The dream player I want the Flames to get is Mark Stone but that won't happen.

Good prediction is that Brodie is traded in a blockbuster deal

That's what I'm thinking. Hamilton is an absolute no-go

Brodie would be a reluctant deal and Hamonic would be a pretty favorable one.

Two real nice assists from Marner tonight.

Only in Toronto would a 20 year old kid with 11 points in 18 games be talked up like he needs to be traded.

Too much is made about him not scoring goals. Just keep setting them up and it's fine with me.

Like Brodie, no one is saying he NEEDS to be traded, but that it's a possibility he's traded.

Only problem with that is that we're looking for someone with Johnny and Monahan, and Johnny and Marner are very similar players. I'd love Marner, but prefer a goal scorer

Why are we looking for someone to play with Gaudreau and Monahan? What’s wrong with Ferland? He’s on pace for 30 goals this year.

Well Tkachuk, Backlund and Frolik has to stay together, and I'm not sure we'd acquire Marner for our 3rd line by giving up a top 4 dman. We'd have to add too, so I'm not sure how worth it it is.

You want to trade Hamilton for a star, where do you get to on this list before you stop?

I'll say this: I'd trade Dougie for Mark Stone. Mark Stone is a fantastic hockey player.

Only looking at the list do I ask:

What is Brendan Gallagher’s situation?

I get that Montreal is in win now mode, but if free agency is approaching, that’s a guy I throw the bank to. He’d fit in on any line in Calgary.

Stone is basically a less pesty, RHS Matthew Tkachuk. Hockey IQ in the same stratusphere. He'd look amazing as a long term Jagr replacement. I would do it but I would need to see Adam Fox put pen to paper first.

Agreed, It's not rocket science, we have more D prospects "similar" to Brodie than anyone else. I actually think if Andersson shows anything positive in the next few games Brodie should be traded if a scoring winger is available.

Walt what? Let's trade the d-man with most points to increase scoring (instead of for other veterans).

Yeah that makes perfect sense.

Team is over .500 and hasnt really hit anybig groove yet...why would they do a blockbuster deal? After being sat, Ferland is playing great.

The thing with the top line is Gadreau has to be in the drivers seat. He is most effective when he is command the puck and play. If you bring in someone elite they will need the puck which reduces Gadreaus effectiveness. Either Ferland continues to produce or you bring in a more pure sniper. Doesnt have to be an 80 point player. Just someone who consistently is 20+ goals like James Neal.

Man if we could only pry Sean Monahan out of Calgary
