Pretty hard to blame the team's performance on the coach.

Lindy couldn't exactly go out there and stop pucks.

Wonder if Kevin Dineen gets promoted in the off season.

They pulled their goalie to play 6 on 5 and never sent out an extra attacker last game.

You've been saying for the last couple weeks that it isn't all on the goalies, that the team has been playing terribly. Pick a lane!

Yup. Extra skater only got sent out when Hughes stopped a rush and waved at the bench

Tangent- funny to me how people want to give ownership credit for paying Sutter to not coach. When there are several teams since who have also fired coaches who also had several years of term.

Firing the coach is just standard operating procedure, avg coach lifespan is ~2.5 years, it deserves zero credit, it's only notable if your team isn't willing to do it over money. Then you're a "mickey mouse" org at Arizona levels of buffoonery.

Watching the game yesterday, I had the feeling Ruff was going to be fired imminently, and was going to post it, but didn't get around to it. Damn!

GM screws up a trade that would save the season. Solution? Blame the coach and throw him on the sword lol. It wasn’t me it wasn’t me! It was the coach!

Haha I was going to say. A week ago he was telling us goaltending wasn’t an issue and he knows it because he “watches the games.”

Apparently now it was the issue.

It's been both. Ruff's been bad

Imagine how pissed we'd be if Ruzicka was constantly getting more minutes than Zary

A lot of them having been saying the lineups he put together have been rough.

Last night they pulled the goalie with 5 minutes to go and never sent out the extra skater.

Yeah, if they were giving up, they'd probably just wait until the season was done rather than bringing in a new coach right now.

They should be done though. They aren't making the playoffs regardless of what changes they make now.

Edit - Kypreos is also saying he's heard that there are 2 factions in Jersey. One he calls the "analytical group" and the other group, where the analytical group is suggesting that the Devils can be good without Markstrom vs the GM and the other side who are pushing for Markstrom.
Interesting part is it's likely that Green really likes Markstrom, and Brodeur really likes Markstrom, and if the GM is on Markstrom's side...

And if I'm not mistaken even analytics support that Markstrom would be a great fit for New Jersey, so it's more analytics probably doesn't want to spend the money/assets for a goalie.

I have a feeling the owner is going to lean towards getting the goalie here.
