Wonder if we can get a team to give us a pick vis a vis Nikitin so they jump the gun on July 1 and let them lock up Cammy at the term he seemingly wants that we won't seemingly give.

Not taking into account that Gaborik is a average sized NHL forward where Cammalleri is small:
7 30+ goal seasons out of Gaborik's 13 seasons 3 40+ goal seasons
Cammalleri 2 30+ goal seasons out of 11.
Gaborik 357 goals in 810 games Cammalleri 235 goals in 669 games Cammalleri has 141 games to score 122 goals...
oh and Cammalleri is a career -59 his best year a +7 ( 4 years a plus player and 7 years a minus)
Gaborik +96 a -6 his rookie year and a -3 2012-13 and 11 years a plus.
Gaborik is coming off a 14 goal in 26 playoff Stanley cup run, Cammalleri has a career total of 17 playoff goals.
If Cammalleri is using Gaborik as a bargaining point Cammalleri is looking at 4M for a max of 3 years.
I expect that Cammalleri might get some more as Gaborik took a huge discount to play for Darryl Sutter.

Gabby has 57 points in 80 playoff games. Cammy has 32 in 32. Do continue to cherry pick stats to fit your argument though.

Gaborik: 23 goals in the last two regular seasons, 0.26 goals per game
Cammalleri: 39 goals in the last two regular seasons, 0.36 goals per game
If you are basing your player values on historical simple statistics only, you're not seeing the whole picture. With that said, if you are going to base player values solely on historical simple statistics, I can cherry pick too. Cammalleri is way more valuable than Gaborik based on the above.
Edit: Started working on this before I saw Trailer Fire use cherry picking, I swear I didn't cherry pick the term cherry pick!

Only way after this morning would be if he agrees and the team he wants to sign with wants him signed before the 1st. Otherwise the era of last minute sign and trades are over (at least within the last week of FA).

I'd offer him 3 years at $7.5M per year. That gives him $22.5M total dollars over the life of the contract, which isn't far off the $25M he's looking for. Plus with Alberta's favourable tax laws, the difference in how much he brings home won't be very significant. Yeah it's an over-payment, but we need someone to get us to the cap floor.

If the Flames brass want Cammy back then 5 years @ 5M shouldn't be an issue. The cap hit will be a benefit for the next 3 years and after that the contract should be easily tradeable with a rising cap and salary retention if necessary. As long as there is no NTC involved I'm all for it.

I know we like to defend our own on here but when he is healthy Gaborik is a much better player than Cammalleri. He is just injury prone. If you could guarantee his health there is not a GM on the planet that would take Cammi over Gaborik.

No one is saying Cammy is better. I'm saying the gap between the two isn't as wide as others believe. Injuries whether folks like it or not do play a factor. Gaborik is oft injured thus making him less of a Significant upgrade over Cammy.
Gaborik is better than Cammy, but not significantly like the poster alluded that I responed to. Marginally better IMO is what I was getting at.

Agree 100%, for most of his career Gabby has been
Still a good deal for the Kings though at that cap hit.

It's not like Cammy is durable. You're only gonna get about 65 games a season out of Cammy.

How exactly is Gaborik been anointed Mr. Glass?
In his last five seasons Gaborik has played
76
62
82
47 (out of 48)
41 (out of 82)
and hasn't missed much (if any) playoff time. That's 308 of 376 games played (not including playoffs).
Compare that to say Cammalleri who in his last five seasons has played
65
67
66
44 (out of 48)
63 or 305 of 376 games, and has missed significant time in each season except the lockout. If anything Cammalleri is Mr. Glass, not Gaborik, who really only had a significant injury once in the past five seasons and showed no issues in the playoffs.

Well if you go back one more year you get Gabby's 17 game season, go back 2 more and you get his 48 game season, etc.
I wasn't really comparing him to Cammy as much as I was agreeing that having a lot of past injuries should play a part in contract offers.

Gaborik was dealt for a player, a 2nd and a 3rd.
Cammalleri didn't go anywhere.
All you need to know about their respective perceived value. Stats are useless in this conversation. Both players were available at the same time.

This isn't necessarily true.
Deals are not always relative and there is an enormous amount of variability in deal-making to impact return. I am sure I don't have to explain this.
Gaborik to me has always seemed to be the more consistent goal scorer but there are some interesting stats I am seeing in this thread that are sort of eye opening to Cammalleri's value.
