Disaster, plain and simple. But Mike has himself partly to blame for this for checking out most of the season.

A 4th round pick is better than nothing.

This was about Burke holding his ground on price. Snow eff'd it up for everyone else by waiting. And Burke wasn't going to allow himself to get picked off by a poor last minute trade offer. Better to hold your ground than to sell out. Next time, guys will know he means what he says. Like it or not. Probably better for the long term that he didn't sell Cammy for a 2nd.

Ya because getting absolutely NOTHING back is better than something.

Market was very bad for sellers today. Even still, isn't something better than nothing? Or is Burke gonna try hard to re-sign now? Not sure I get it at this point but we'll see.

Do you still get draft pick compensation for losing UFAs?
Maybe that compensation is better than the offers that Burke was getting, so why bother?

I hope Burke is smart enough to let him walk in the off-season

I would have taken the Hemsky return.
Who really thinks Mike is re-signing here?

I heard Duhatschek talking yesterday and he said the asking price was too high for teams to bite at acquiring Cammi.

Boo-urns. Very disappointing deadline day for the Flames. I am worried they will lose Cammalleri or only get a 3rd round pick for his rights. The only hope is that he is quickly re-signed to a one year deal, lights it up next year and gets the Flames a big haul at the 2015 trade deadline.

Wow Burke blew it. Plain and simple
How does he not get a deal done with his buddies in Anaheim? They traded Penner away and could afford Cammy. Brutal

If the right price was offered for Cammy, I'm sure Burke would have traded him. His UFA rights will still be worth something, and I don't have a problem keeping him since he seems like a good locker room guy and is a consummate professional.

He probably wants a similar deal as his current one, 4-5 years for 5-6 million per year. No thanks, we've seen enough of him to know he's not worth that.

Not the end of the world at all. A player who wants to be here and by all accounts is great in the locker room and with the kids didn't get traded. Hopefully he re-signs this summer. If not his rights can still be traded at the draft, so there's your something being better than nothing.
Teams aren't built in a day and trades aren't made in a vacuum, if circumstances dictated that he not be traded now then that's how she goes. I'll wait more than 3/4 of a season into a rebuild before freaking out.

We don't know that he hasn't been re-signed. We only know that he hasn't been traded.
