I think Lucas Ciona has a chance to be a riser in next year's rankings. He's massive, has a really heavy shot and plays a hard, honest 200 ft game (this last point is something I've read and not observed myself due to lack of opportunity). The knock so far has been skating but if you believe the Flames, they're confident they can still drastically correct and improve skating issues at this age.
The smaller body of work for these guys in major junior the past couple seasons creates more question marks but also greater chance for diamonds in the rough.

The Flames seem to like drafting big tough guys who are projects (or at least they did for a few years) like Kanzig, Riley Bruce, Austin Carroll, Tim Harrison, Hunter Smith, and Zach Fischer. They moved away from that for a few years, but I think Ciona is the latest edition. He's known to exhibit some smarts and physicality, but his skating is brutal. Long shot for sure.
