I think Jankowski has what it takes to be this team's #1 centre.

Too bad we won't find out unless our actual #1 center in Monahan gets hurt.

How many goals do we think Janko is going to get this year, and what would we be happy with? I was going to be happy with 10 for Year 1, but maybe I have to up my expectations?

If all 3 players on that line stay healthy and get leaned on a little more I'd like to think all 3 players on that line could pot 20+ goals each.
I really like that line and the chemistry developing.

The entire 3rd line line each getting 20+ goals? Yeah, that's just not realistic in any universe, never mind in today's league. Especially when two out of three have 1 goal each almost a quarter of the season in. I think each of them is capable of at least 10 goals, but to expect 20 or more is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

In fairness, Bennett is a guy who rattled off 8 goals in 5 games in his rookie season after an 18 game goaless streak. When he is confident he is simply unstoppable. He had 18 goals his rookie year with half a dozen or so more called back on iffy reviews. Bennett can hit 20.
Jagr is a year removed from a 27 goal season playing top line/top PP and is now facing 3rd pairing comp and 2nd/3rd PK units too. Last year PP2 was our more effective unit and they haven't quite clicked yet but could easily start to build chemistry.
Which leaves Jankowski who is on pace to finish with 25 goals already

I have been a big Janko fan for several years. I did not know anything about him at the draft, other than he needed to grow into his body. It bothered me how much negative press he endured so I took an interest in his college career.
After modest production in his Freshman and Sophmore year, I was starting to have my doubts. The one nugget of hope I always clung to was that he was improving each year through aggressive off season training. The hockey brain was always there but now the size and strength were slowly coming.
In my opinion, his turning point was in his Junior year when he helped lead his Providence team over Eichel and BU for a National Championship. He was recognized for the All-star All Championship team. He finally reached the PPG status in his senior year. However, not a lot of people realized that Providence played a very defensive system where PPG players were rare.
I could not have been happier when he broke out with 3 pts in the last game. Especially when he was left out of the starting line- up after a strong pre- season. I am not sure what his ceiling is but I believe people will continue to under estimate him. With a shot like Monny, skating like Backlund, and a hockey IQ like Tkachuk he is going to be fun to watch.

Seeing this kid have success at the NHL level after all the years of following his development (and arguing on the Backburner about the 2012 draft the whole while) is a bit like a 5 year tantric hockey nerd massage finally reaching its climax...
He's really reminding me of Joe Nieuwendyk out there and, though I doubt he'll ever score 50 goals, sky's the limit for a kid with that hockey brain and the thoroughbred physical frame he's developed.

Jankowskis story and perfectly handled development makes me proud to be a fan of this organization. The patience and determination from three different GMs, all recognizing his potential and his needs has really paid off handsomely, and from the looks of it Jankowski is about to become a real difference maker for the team for years to come. There are a lot of people involved who has good reason to be proud right now.

Love how Jankowski is the latest young Flame to get his own goal song. All of them but Mony's played last game.
Janko - "Django (Main Theme)" - Django Unchained OST
Bennett - "Bennie and the Jets" - Elton John
Johnny - "Johnny B Goode" - Chuck Berry
Mony - "Mony Mony" - Billy Idol

They need to play some Poison when Jagr scores again.

"Talk Dirty to Me" would be great for Jagr. Upbeat, retro, catchy.
And I'm hoping they bring "Teach me how to Dougie" back, haven't remembered hearing it since 2015, but then he said he didn't really like it.

I hate all picks that didn't work out, and love all picks that are homeruns. I like all picks that worked out okay. I have the same feelings towards trades. I like the good ones and dislike the bad ones.
