It'll be interesting to see what Pillar does this year going forward.

It was May 17th last year where he had is "mishap" in Atlanta and was suspended for a couple of games.

His slash line at the time was: .305 / .357 / .497 / .854
From that point on it was: .236 / .277 / .367 / .644

So far this year: .300 / .341 / .506 / .847

Hopefully he keeps it together this year.

He (probably) won't. Kevin Pillar is not a fundamentally different hitter this year...

His on-base % has the same separation from batting average that he's had for his career (not more patience), his exit velocity? within career norms, launch angle? within career norms. The only thing thats elevated is his BABIP and that's basically just luck. I'd expect him to be a bit better this year as compared to last (because he had bad BABIP luck last year) but he's the same ol' Kevin Pillar.

If some GM thinks that he's a different hitter I recommend the Jays immediately trade him to that GM.

Hopefully the Braves can keep doing what they're doing.

Alex Anthopoulos
Jose Bautista
Josh Donaldson

Kolby Allard - Kyle Wright - Mike Soroka - Ian Anderson - Luis Gohara - Joey Wentz - Max Fried - Kyle Muller - etc, etc, etc

Just sayin...

If we know anything about AA, he will part with with high level talent for aging just past their prime MLB stars.

Haha. And he has a huge hole at 3B, has traded for Donaldson before so would probably feel like he could get an extension done, and he has a butt load of very high end prospect pitchers, which is the Jays biggest weakness in their system.

Maybe we can get a Syndergaard off of him.

Austin Riley will be the next stud to join them. Hes also their 3B of the future. He's been locked in for a while and could be a major boost to a position that is a diaster. but I don't think hes joining the *Baby Braves* until the Super 2 deadline passes in June.

The Braves certainly took advantage of having five of the first 75 selections in 2015, taking Kolby Allard (14th), Soroka (28th), Riley (41st), Lucas Herbert (54th) and A.J. Minter (75th).

Minter has already made a strong impression at the Major League level. Herbert, who was Allard's high school catcher, was seemingly a package deal.

Patrick Weigel and Josh Graham are two other names from that 2015 class that could make contributions one day, but are still developing (or returning from a serious injury).

1st and 2nd, none out.........and nothing to show for it.

There's no way there aren't better DH options out there for the Jays.

Just have to hope the pending free agents stay healthy and play well so we can maybe get something for them. This team is going nowhere with the rotation imploding like it has this year and the bullpen wont likely continue to perform as well as it has, especially with Osuna gone.

Was kinda hoping old school JD would come up and tie the game, but alas it was a weak grounder to short with the bases loaded.

I think It's the reverse. They're a good team with some blight spots... unfortunately when one of those blight spots is the rotation en masse (minus Happ... who they should try to resign for a couple more seasons) you're gonna have a hard time consistently winning games.

You probably should be looking to move Donaldson now though... and yes Atlanta would be the natural spot for him.

Yeah I agree they really do need to re-sign Happ. Stroman and Sanchez turning into soft smelly doggy doo-doo has really put a damper on the future of the Jays rotation.

Sanchez's fall from grace is the one I really don't get. His stuff was awesome, maybe he had to change his mechanics because of that blister?

The Jays need to sell off whatever isn't stapled down when the deadline comes, take whatever prospects they can get and try to sign some starters in the offseason. Promote Bichette and Guerrero to start next season to replace Tulo and Donaldson and rebuild around those guys.
