That's the most expensive fluid exchange quote I've ever seen.

Those number are insane. Dealerships are the absolute worst in most cases.

Now, with that being said if you take it back for whatever reason make darn sure they’re offering a warranty on the work.

I just had a timing chain replaced on my vehicle and it’s now warrantied for 4 years.

Here we are 4 months later and I have to take it back already and the bill was $4400 initially and I was out of my truck which I cannot have broken down for 2 days again.

Can’t tow with rentals and I’m choked.

Worst story tho was 2 years ago I pulled into a dealership as a code showed up and I wanted it checked out.

I was told one of the turbos was gone to which I said thanks but go pee up a rope.

Went to my regular mechanic and it turned out to be one cracked spark plug.

$140 for a tuneup and oil change with my mechanic.

Ford wanted 6k......yeah okay ford . Smfh

The filters and brake fluid are not out of line if they are using Oem filters. I wouldn’t pay it, but those filters are probably $30 or more on their own. Sometimes they are easy to change other times they can take time. My Montana van took about half an hour to change.

What is a drivetrain fluid exchange if it doesn’t include the diffs? Tranny flush is about 160, transfer case anouther 75. Diffs should be about $100 each.

Get a second opinion on the rack. With summer winter extremes we see it’s likely sweeping in the winter and not a major concern.

Just my 2c

1) Buy air filters on ebay for $5 each (not $80 that dealers charge)
2) Do your own fluid changes, it's incredibly simple
3) For a second opinion take your car to inspecta car, they don't do any of the maintenance work so they aren't biased towards padding your repair bill
4) Take it to Kingsboro Auto for a second opinion. Most honest mechanics I've seen in the city
5) Avoid pretty much any major dealer in town for repair/maintenance work

Changing transmission fluid and flushing a brake system arent that easy for a backyard mechanic.

But

Unless this Jeep is being off-roaded I doubt those need changing at all after only 5yrs.

$5 for an air filter? what kind of vehicle uses that?

the filters for my truck are a little under $25... https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

ebay is around $40 for the same filter (when you add filter cost + shipping)

i totally agree with avoiding dealer's for getting work done - they seem to be crazy expensive

My old car I could get 4 cabin air filters for $5.

Mind you I also just bought a furnace filter and cut it to fit.

Yeah I'm about $20 for a decent one on my vehicles too. Unless I wanted to save a few bucks and get a crap brand like Fram or something but I respect my stuff too much to do that

for an air filter you can always opt to use a K&N filter. more money up front, but you just clean them with thier chemicals and replace. I think they pay off over time.

i am surprised that you can find a transmission flush for $140. a mechanics time alone is almsot $100 for an hour and 6-8 l of trans fluid has to be $40.

The last couple vehicles I've had K&N are about the price of 3 filters. Good option if your keeping the car longterm, plus since you're just cleaning them you can do it more regularly if you want at no real cost. Great if you live in a dustbowl like I do.

I may be off a bit on the Trans flush, prices have been going up on everything way faster than I'm used to. Last I checked it was about $139.99 but it's probably a bit more now. I'm talking Jiffy Lube too, not a dealer. That price doesn't include a filter either, which you may or may not want to change.

Just did one and a full flush used 13L on my race truck, with a powerglide trans. 11L is normal and we ran a couple more through for good measure. The machine straight exchanges the fluid. And my flush was sponsored so I didn't check the price.

His quote may have included a filter so yes you add in 1/2 to 1 hr labour and parts and the price goes up. I should have thought about that.

My KN Filter is on its third Dodge truck.

Well worth the 80$ I paid for it 12 years ago...

Cleaned regularly BTW...

recharge kits are about 20$ I believe.

Don't know how many I have gone thru. I usually clean it twice a year.
