Default January 17 with eight games.

It is a statutory holiday in the United States and that is why there are five morning/matinee games for the Monday OOT.

Red Wings at Sabres was part two of a home/away series and was on Sportsnet. It will could be repeated this evening. The same goes for the Wild-Avalanche game that was on Sportsnet One.

Other games had the Habs at Coyotes, Kings at Sharks, and Blackhawks at Kraken which is currently tied 2-2 in the third period.

Centre Ice games

1700h Flyers at Islanders
1800h Predators at Blues
2000h Penguins at Knights

Hertl scores 5 goals in the game. That is more goals than Backlund or Monahan have all year.

What a game by Timo Meier!

This Seattle/Hawks game has actually been fun to watch. Fleury has been fantastic so far.

2-2 right now in OT.

Also showing why 3-on-3 OT is ridiculous.

Seattle wins in the SO.

The Hawks were just holding on at the end of the game, no shots in OT. Left Fleury out to fend for himself.

Meier, not Hertl.

Meier is Kane’s best (and maybe only) friend on the Sharks. Scores 5 in a game after he’s gone for good. Coincidence?

I still remember when younger Hertl had his 4 goal game and it was all the rage around the league. Then younger Bennett had his own 4 goal game and nobody blinked. Except I guess for the Panthers who he scored those goals against.

Hertl and Czizikas have scored for the Islanders as they lead 2-1 after forty minutes.

Interesting to note that of 5-goal-game scorers in the past 30 years, only two have been North American [Mario, and Mike Ricci(!)]. In that same span there have been nine different Europeans that have achieved the feat.

The only Flame to have scored five in a game was Joe Nieuwendyk in 1989, presumably before the advent of the (insert grocery store here) Million Dollar Score and Win contest.

If I recall he also had 5 after just 2 periods and had several chances to get #6 and couldn't get it done.

The Predators had a 2-0 lead and then the Blues scored two goals in 98 seconds late in the first period. The Blues scored two more times in the second period, 4-2 now.

It is not a good start for the Penguins as they are losing 3-0 after twenty minutes.

The last two I remember are Zibinejad and Gaborik.
