Lately I've noticed even if we are away for ~2 weeks the utility bill stays relatively the same. The amounts only tied to usage go down obviously since actual usage is down, but there are so many other things in there it can be tough to make a dent on a monthly utility bill.

I would be curious to hear from anyone who has bought a Jayman home recently as they keep advertising their solar panels on new builds

We have a split level, 4 people.

All in - gas, electricity, water, sewage, garbage bins, etc - puts us anywhere from mid-200s to typically low 300s in total cost. Depends on season, weather, etc.

But the biggest influence and factor is honestly a) if my mother-in-law is over watching the kids (temp up significantly, tv on all day, every light on in the house all day, etc), and b) how much control I let my wife have over the thermostat....

Ours is always higher because of our stupid electric water heater.

I'm not on enmax but the extra charges on bills are so stupid.

I could double my electricity use or cut it in half and my "elect." bill only changes 10 ish %.

Sorry I don't. I can go look and see if it has a sticker on it later though.

A lot of those charges actually do scale with usage. I know because a few years back, the meter broke and Enmax ended up only charging me $22 for the month because it recorded 0 usage.

$600 all in (Enmax - everything) for Jan 22-Feb 21. 3,700 Sq ft, two furnaces and a wife who’s home all day and cold blooded ... Jesus! Usual is $450 all in. Also had the garage heater going pretty hard so that was probably $75 of it.

Glad Feb is over!!

Don’t see anything on the tank, but it’s a Giant Expert Plus 8 60 gallon if you really want to check it out.

Looking for some advice, should I lock in a electricity rate of 5.79/kWh for 3 years? I'm trying to look up the rate history but just wanted to know other peoples thoughts on this. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

You know that you will be saving like $4/month on 300 kwh usage vs the regulated rate which is at the price cap.

More money would be saved on lowering your useage.

Yeah I've stopped caring about it so much. I'm just on floating gas/electricity until I see a >50% rate hike on my bill and a bunch of news articles on expensive gas/electricity.

Not worth the hassle for something that affects like what, 10% of your bill?

300kwh is super impressive. I'm always trying to find ways to lower my electric usage and avg about 400-450 kwh a month

I'm between 310 and 375 in the summer depending on the weather.

I have a new house with low power lighting throughout.

This is the news that changed my mind. I'm now considering locking in.
