I saw a few Cybertrucks in Oregon/Washington a few weeks back, and I can't deny that the absurdity of that thing put a smile on my face. A plaything of a billionaire and I'm sure it's a terrible "truck", but I love that there are some wildly designed things like that rolling around. The last thing the world needs is another jellybean crossover.
Tons of Rivians down there too. They are almost becoming commonplace.

I hope to take delivery of my Cybertruck before the end of the year. If any CPers would like to check it out in person or even take it for a spin I’d be open to it. I expect the steer-by-wire to be quite interesting.

Yeah I was just there, too. First of all...what a place. Never been to Oregon before, but I loved it. I loved just driving my truck on the beach along the ocean. There are no rules there.
And yeah, I was wondering if Rivians were rental cars or something. They were everywhere. Sometimes three parked in a row.
My BIL just bought one with three motors. 700 hp or something. That thing is really nice and super fast.

I was camping at Mount Rainier NP last weekend and actually saw one in the campground. Absolutely nothing in the bed though -- they had camp set up already -- but would have been curious to see it "loaded".
I didn't quite do the Nelson HA-HA. More just a shake of the head and a "what an idiot" type thing.
There's a Rivian in the neighborhood I run in and at least those look passable. Don't think I'd get one of those yet either though. I have a Ram instead. (No, I do not own Oakleys, it's not lifted, and I don't drive like an #######).

I would love to go to a pub with you after smoking a fatty, we each get our own by the way I haven’t shared in at least 20 years.I have questions and the tab is on me.

I'm not here to poop on your parade, but steer-by-wire has to be one of the absolutely dumbest "innovations".
Steering already got worse going from hydraulic to electric racks as you lose a ton of feel in the name of fuel economy and fancy variable steering ratio features.

Oregon is one of my favourite places I’ve been. It was some time ago, so may be not as awesome now, but I just loved the coastal views and towns.
I don't appreciate the coast as much as I should living here, but I've always been more partial to the mountains/forests. One thing I really like, is that there are three (well, five since one area has three super close) Cascade peaks within driving distance and they all have different eco-systems. Sure some trees/flowers are the same but overall, a varied set of flora you can't mistake which one you're near if you know them. Rainier (WA) has the most ground cover so it's almost all green (and flowers) until you're above the timberline. Also it's size is impressive if you're used to Hood. (14.4k ft vs. 11,235 ft). The Three Sisters (central OR) is much more high desert, so fewer flowers/ground cover, but also different tree species too. Hood (northern OR) is nice since it's kind of a mix of both depending on which side of the mountain you're on and it's also the closest, so the one I spend the most time on in the summer.
They may not seem super impressive to those used to the Rockies -- and I held that opinion when I first moved here -- but they're the best part for me.

Has anyone been able to get a tire warranty for early wear through successfully? Or is this a hopeless cause?
Here's the situation - Michelin Premier tires from KalTire. These were the infamous models with the treadblocks that would expose new sipes as wear occurred. Except they reduced the tread depth of the tire when new by like 30%
I'm about 1-2mm from the wear bars having put ~45,000 km on them, which is a lot less than the 100K warranty. I've done my own change overs so won't be able to prove that was done annually. I could see all of the above reasons being used to deny me a claim.
An electric van would be so amazing, but the price of this VW is outrageous. And the fact it won’t have access to the NACS right away is suboptimal. I can’t see many of these selling without improved specs or a much lower price.
FML. My wife is anxiously awaiting these to come to Canada and I didn't realise the price tag until now. For some reason I thought that they were supposed to be much less than $85k!
Exterior looks good, but interior is complete garbage with yet another massive ipad taking up the entire dash. So dumb
Isn't there a smaller screen behind the wheel in that pic?

??? I always thought they were supposed to be around $100K ($85K USD).
I'm excited for this thing. I didn't have an issue with the $100K price tag hoping that enough hipsters jump on this to keep it around and allow the price tag to steadily drop closer towards the price of a fully loaded van as of right now when I contemplate replacing my vehicle in a few years.
That is unless some other PHEV/Hybrid van steals the spotlight in the near future. (Like those executive styled Alphards)

I guess I just didn't look that closely before, and EV's are just plain expensive.
