Werner is back from covid and get the start tonight. Wolf is his back up.
Heat up 2-0
Phillips with one and Gawdin with a goal on a penalty shot

5-2 Heat win over Tucson Roadrunners.

Phillips, Gawdin (PS), Moro, Tuulola and Kirkland (EN).

Werner with the win.

The Heat have given up 2 PP goals against since around mid November, iirc Dec 3rd. They have scored 6 shorthanded goals in that time, including 2 tonight

Stockton is one of the top 3 teams in the AHL right now and would have to be considered Calder Cup contenders.

(I know it's not the end-all and be-all of an AHL team from an organizational standpoint, but still.)

Most of its success is being driven by prospects.

Plus good coaching and good developmental personnel.

Is there any reason for Wolf to be sitting at the offensive end of the ice?

As the backup last night?

That's probably the end of the ice that's closest to the visitor's dressing room in Tucson and the benches are too small to fit the backup goalies.

Tucson's backup is sitting in the other corner.

I must be missing something, but I don't see a STK game being played last night, nor can I find the last time Mackey had a point....

Jan 7th:

Heat lose 4-1 to the Gulls, with Werner in net- who stopped 21 of 25.(3.09 GAA, .880% YIKES)
Goal was Tuulola from Phillips and Pelletier (who is still tied for 3rd in league scoring, with 28gp/11g/18a/29pts,+14, 10 PIM.)

Valimaki had 10 of Stockton's 38 shots.

Getting Froese back should help get the Heat back on track after a 2-3 record in the last 5

Phillips now leads the Heat with 11 goals in 26 games. Pelletier has the same amount in three more games.

Valimaki left the game with a lower-body injury.

Sorry about that guys. With the way I have my favourites set up in the browser on my phone, I was actually looking at a game from December 4th. But Mackey still had the Howe hat trick that night!
