It's pretty simple, if you don't like what Fleury is saying on twitter don't follow him. I don't understand getting upset about something that is easily avoidable. It's like the idiots that watch Fox News just to be outraged.

I just don't understand this take.

What if Lanny or Iggy turned out to be a total trash human? You'd just shrug your shoulders and it wouldn't bother you at all?

I feel like I grew up with Iggy. He was/is the reason I remained a Flames fan during the late 90s when it was so easy to switch allegiances to a team making playoffs year in and year out. He's my favorite player of ALL-TIME. I'll stop short of saying I love this man, but there is something warm and fuzzy I feel.

I'd be pretty upset if he turned out to be a racist or started talking #### about the Flames or something.

Why is it so hard to believe that Theo being trash is affecting some people negatively since they looked up to him so much?

I'll always love Theo. Yeah, he's said some incredibly dumb stuff off the ice, I don't read it. Especially knowing his story and why he is the way that he is.

I'm a diehard Flames fan, and have only ever voted Conservative both provincially & federally, and even I had to 'mute' Fleury on twitter. The guy is too far out there.

I am not happy with what Theo says but arenas are full of retired player numbers for players that did some pretty crappy things outside of hockey. Fleury's political views have nothing to do with his accomplishments on the ice as a Calgary Flame. He absolutely should be in the rafters.

It's not different anywhere else. I live pretty close to City Hall in Vancouver, and we have jackass anti-mask protestors every weekend in much larger numbers than anything in Alberta. It's like that everywhere.

While I find Fleury's political posts incredibly aggravating, I agree that a player's political views shouldn't be a reason to not honor (geez louise that's bad double negative). Though even there I have mixed feelings about that, as there is a movement towards not trusting data and science, that is bad for all of us, and Theo is furthering that

But even with all that - I don't believe his political views are the reason #14 isn't up there. I think it is largely due to how he's treated the organization and the people within it - and things he's said about them. He wants to be honored by an organization that he hasn't given much respect to. I think that's the biggest factor in play here.

If you weren’t a fan of the Flames I could suggest Dave Andreychuk or MacT. Obviously as a Flames fan, these guys aren’t top of list, but given the choice to sit down for a chat with any of the three, Fleury would be dead last.
