Yeah, and he said he is in a negative place right now, so he turned to his community forum to talk about it, and made an offhand comment that I literally barely even registered and then watched a bunch of whiny brats start to pile on him.

I'll come out and say it. I agree with OP 100%.
Theo has gone from hero to zero and I'm glad the Flames haven't retired his number, and by all accounts, never will.
Also, have you guys not seen video of the downtown anti-mask protests? Someone called out Alberta, big whoop. Albertans and it's leadership haven't done a great job, and a lot of it is due to attitudes like Theo's.
It's worth adding I was a massive fan as a kid and I remember the day he was traded my world turned upside down. I have no time for people like him anymore, despite his redemption story.

Pretending it is any different anywhere else (especially someone from Ontario...) is dumb. It isn’t. There are anti mask protests everywhere, and that pathetic group of ~100 in Calgary is from the leaders of the cause. Hell, AB got Christmas right and ON has fumbled the chance to limit the incoming mess. And none of this is related to Theo’s opinions as an individual.

Count me amongst those that have had to unfollow and learn that my childhood hero is not who I thought he was. I have had many positive in person interactions with Theo over the years but the pandemic has shown what kind of views he has and they are in direct contrast with mine. I don't wish any harm on the guy but I don't need to see his thoughts and opinions anymore.
