Yikes.

Add in MTL and they're 4-27-4.
Double yikes.

Unbelievable win. One of the most satisfying ass kicking in a loooonggg time!! Is this really the Flames team that came into the season with one of the most underwhelming lineups in years, only to play the most structured hockey in years?
Hot shot by Backlund on his goal. Hope to see more of that consistently from him. Lucic had a bad giveaway on one of the PPs that almost resulted in a goal against. But Markstrom was a wall tonight. Great game by him. Lucic made up for it by crunching Fox later on. Coleman has been a revelation. Manginer is awesome and gets better every game. Excited to see what his ceiling will be at his peak.
Shoutout to the Rangers pbp team giving a lot of respect to Sutter and how the Flames are playing. Laughed everytime they pronounced Killington, and when they spelt out the difference in spelling for Goodrow and Gaudreau. Fun listening to that broadcast. Bonus points for having beautiful sexy King Henrique L. as the guest analyst.
Only 5 games in, but this is the best the team has looked in years, since the season with Peters as HC. 3rd in the Pacific with 7/10 points. Didn't expect to see the team here at this stage, but I will (cautiously) take it.

When Mangiapane scored that goal, I thought of how the Oilers would have over celebrated in that same situation.

Team played great, scoreline looks great, road trip record looks great, and nearly everything that could be going well is, so far, going well.
So of course there has to be needless drama.
And of course it’s an adult man who is no stranger to throwing snark and insults around getting upset over someone using “his” gifs… which are likely full of copyrighted material he did not get permission to use… and throwing a tantrum and threatening to quit the board. At least most of the rest of the adults are rightly seeing the humour in the situation and making light of it.

Regular season wins are great and all, but I'm waiting for the Gif Drama Playoffs.

He's getting super-paid, lol. Tre should have locked him up for more.

It's also old code (classy) to not send out PP1 to dogpile on the other team.

I was curious, so I did a little digging.
This is the Flames best start since 2009-10*
*for for the first 5 games.

During his hold out, his agent was quoted as saying they were looking at a 1 year deal, they probably felt confident he could dramatically increase his value in a couple years so locking up longterm wasn't something they wanted.
“We provided them with an offer for one year, based on players provided to us as comparables, and we’re waiting to hear back,” said agent Ritch Winter, who represents the 23-year-old restricted free agent."
I doubt Mangi's improved stats are a surprise to his agent or to himself, so an early long-term extension seems like it was never a realistic option.
It'd be interesting to learn what AAV it would have taken for a 6 or 7 year deal last time around. I doubt there would have been a significant bargain to be had. Their camp has always been very confident in Mangi's value.
