Really? There was some aerial footage on Global News and it looked to be pretty complete.
Surprised they aren't going to make Friday.

Should be all open, including 162nd Avenue (assuming the City portion is complete).

That is great news! I've been looking forward to that section be opened for some time. FIL lives in Turner Valley and our current choices for routes are either taking the long way from Macleod, dragging my butt through Bridlewood or taking the worlds roughest road along Tsuu Tina which I don't think is even an option now.

There's usually lots of things that need to be signed off as complete before you can officially open a road to public traffic - both from a safety and liability perspective. As an example, a road safety audit is usually done right before opening to make sure everything that's supposed to be there is actually there, or to pick up on design issues that are more obvious in the real world. Normally on big P3 projects there's work to be done after opening, but they aren't critical to the safety of the public or operation of the road.

I'll happily take a Saturday opening, just in time for the commute next week

Yeah looks fully read to me. Even most noise mitigation and bridge painting is done which has historically (previous couple Stoney/Henday legs) been done in the year following opening.
So now the question is... does Sarcee/Bow survive on Monday?

Northbound is already backed up past the 17th Ave interchange during rush hour, so if your suggestion that Sarcee becomes the defacto N-S route off the SWRR is correct....

Google Maps shows the SW section as open already. It's telling me to go home that way.

Just updated the Wikipedia article with the new map, so here's where we're at now:
I still have it as "planned" 2024 cause I have no idea. Might open from Trans-Canada down to Old Banff Coach Road first, then the final bit from OBCR down to Glenmore will be 2024. Should become clearer fairly soon, either way I made all these maps years ago and have one for either scenario.

Is it open to the public now? I’d love to use it today to get to the west side.

Supposed to be 4 pm, I believe. Given the Tsuut'ina deal and the decades-long nightmare it took to acquire the land for this leg, there's no way they open it without having at least a small pandemic-suppressed ceremony praising themselves for it (though they did already have one last October when the segment through the reserve opened)

Let us know how it is! Need to figure out if I take the nice car or ol' reliable... I remember driving on Stoney SE when it first opened and some of those expansion joints were pretty nasty at first haha
