He pays more attention to the oilers than his own son (was spouting off facts about where some college prospects were playing, then asked what his son was taking in uni and the shlub didnt even know!), which makes me respect him less than I already did.

Why aren't teams like vegas motivated to snap a streak? You'd think they would be enticed by the opportunity to play spoiler, not to mention make a statement to the team you're likely playing in round 1.
Key injuries happen to every team.
