I got once that came up as a number from somewhere in BC. Prince Rupert, maybe? Anyway I googled the number because I have family, although not in Prince Rupert, and it was the number of some criminal justice thing.

I called and their voicemail literally told me that their number had been spoofed and they weren't calling anyone, and to leave them alone.

Isn't the fact that there isn't a message that goes, "This number is not in service" evidence enough that the number is legit?

My spam calls all come in one day every month. 10 to 12 calls, all from different unknown numbers, all calls leave the same message...blah blah blah...warrant..blah. Start at 735 am exactly, then one every 84 minutes after that.

No kidding, how it could be dumb enough to block calls from a contact I have named as "Mom"? Absolute trash from Samsung.

A couple of saturdaupys ago I got a call at 7.05 am, I was busy sleeping. Gave the guy an earful of quintet Tarantino

The other day my wife got a call on her cell, and at I got one 20 seconds after and the the land line a minute later

I can’t believe these calls work on any level. Yo talk with Jim, who has a thick accent and you can hear 20 other voices in the background

Actually I'm surprised there aren't more calls at 2-3am in the morning.

Don’t answer calls from numbers not saved in your phone and you will stop getting called by scammers. Can’t even remember the last time I got one.

This is definitely not true for everyone. After getting a new 587 number I never once answered the phone for anyone other than contacts, and still got a few calls a week. And then nothing for a while, and now a few again. Also get spam texts every now and again.

Agreed. I had a four day span when I got dozens of calls from the CRA scammers. I finally called them just to tell them I wasn't going to fall for it so just leave me alone.

No idea if that was the reason, but they stopped after that.

Wish there was a way to reject a call without sending to voice mail.

I have a Pixel so can do the Google screening thing which prevents a voicemail but still interrupts my music/podcast while this is going on if I'm out hiking or walking the dog or whatever.

It's a machine that dials a whole bunch of numbers at once, first one to pick up takes the line. You were too slow so you get dead air.

The best one is still purporting to be from the "prosecutions" division of CRA where should you fail to ignore the warnings the robo voice:

"can..wish..you..only..the..best..of..luck".

There's one that says you owe money and they have called the cops on you. Cops mind you, not the police. Then it says press one to discuss.

So I press one and they ask how many I help you? And I say you guys called me, how should I know. Then they get all confused. And I keep repeating that till they hang up.

Hopefully I save a senior somewhere from being defrauded by wasting their time.

They don't even talk to you any more. I used be able to at least get through to a person for the CRA one and say some stupid things to waste some of their time. It was fun getting them to start swearing at you. The new one about your shipping package being seized and found containing illegal items, I can't even get them to talk to me. They just hang up as soon as it gets transferred to a real person.

To find out when you're home. That way they know right the right time to continue making those calls.
