Which is why I said Lindholm is not the best player on this team. (Gaudreau is) I just think Lindholm impacts this team in too many places Gaudreau doesn’t. Johnny is the better player, but he can’t check or go into corners like Lindholm does, he doesn’t PK and he doesn’t take faceoffs. If Gaudreau is off the scoresheet he is likely not doing much while Lindholm if held pointless contributes more.

Another underrated thing for Lindholm is he shoots rightie. (Which makes sense that was one of the things he was brought in for)

Lindholm is the most complete player on the team. Dude just does everything.

100% agree. I think he's at least as important than Monahan, if not more. Only thing Monahan is definitely better at than Lindholm is his shot. His $4.85 million salary is criminal.

I haven't caught up to the whole thread yet, but wanted to mention something. Chatting with the boys during the game there were a lot of questions around why Lindholm was on the 2nd line. I mentioned that I thought it could be for 2 reasons, face offs and getting a spark for Chucky.

I hadn't really given much thought to my comment before saying it, so I decided to look into it a bit more during the game. Following along on NHL.com the "live" portion of the stats. I saw something interesting. Almost all of Lindholm's faceoffs were in the defensive end. He took the majority of his line's draws. Not only did he take them, he also was 89% in the dot. When I last looked he was something like 9/10 in the dot and almost all in the D end. Backlund was 20% and most of his were neutral zone or offensive. Mony, JG and Chucky were in the offensive zone for most of their draws. The other 2 that took draws in the D zone were Ryan and Janko, who were ~70% in the dot.

There was a lot more going on then just line shuffling. We should really commend the coaching staff on what they did this afternoon. \

Forget Hossa, Lindy can be our Bergeron

ok ok ok, he can be both.

Pretty standard for afternoon games isn't it? I only managed to catch a few minutes of the third since I was at work

Peters said as much on 960 post-game. Lindy on 2nd line was all about faceoffs. Must not have liked what he saw with Backs in dot in Dzone and added Lindy to insure we won more of those Dzone draws.

D pairings looked really solid out there today even without Brodie.

Rasmus had some really nice point shots from 2nd PP. 2nd PP looks capable now.

Eatbread beginning to show confidence with his recent goal success.

Winning is more fun than losing. Always feel good for Smith when he beats Arizona.

Backlund is good at lots of things but on face offs he may be the weakest on the team. He’s not horrible, but Ryan, Lindy, Jankowski are really good and Minnie has been too.

Especially when you consider they are still paying him to beat them

Nice W. Secondary scoring is nice. Nobody could’ve expected the top line and Chucky to keep up that pace. Those boys will pickup the slack soon enough

Nice to see some secondary scoring. It is very timely for sure.

I thought ours just might, and get 90-110 point seasons all around. Not sure now.

Lindy is the only guy that's been bringing it all season long. No slumps for that man, he's a machine and a beauty.

Nice to see the train start to pick up momentum again. Would LOVE to follow this up with a BSD win in Wednesday, followed by a 9-1 beatdown of Anaheim on Friday.

PS: Well done CP for bringing an A+ gif game to the PGT. Happy CP Family Day
