5 players with 50+ points and ppg
Hey I just checked the other teams, here is how much we are dominating on this:
Anaheim: 0
Arizona: 0
Boston: 2
Buffalo: 1
Carolina: 1
Colorado: 3 (4th with 37)
Columbus: 1
Dallas: 0
Detroit: 0
Edmonton: 2
Florida: 0
LA: 0
Minnesota: 0
Montreal: 0
Nashville: 0
NJ: 0
NYI: 0
NYR: 0
Ottawa: 1
Philadelphia: 1
Pittsburgh: 3 (4th with 47, 5th with 40)
San Jose: 1
StL: 0
Tampa: 3 (4th with 34)
Toronto: 2
Vancouver: 0
Vegas: 0
Washington: 1
Winnipeg: 2
We are dominating this. Pittsburgh is the closest, with the 5th player needing 10 points to join us.
I'm still in awe of this. I wonder about the historical data for 5 players above 50 points at 50 games?

I have to pinch myself sometimes as it's almost like it's a dream how good this team is playing. Flames fans have been conditioned for disappointment and underachievement over the years but this team has something special going on.

Should take a look at the league plus minus too. The Flames currently have the top three in the league and five in the top ten.
Still feels weird. Really good, but just so unfamiliar.

Combined 300 points in 50 games. Not too shabby for a single powerplay unit.

Four Calgary Flames players – Johnny Hockey, Elias Lindholm, Matthew Tkachuk and Sean Monahan – have passed the 20 goal mark already. Eleven NHL teams don’t have a single 20-goal man to date

What a combination of age, contract situation and performance level
Forward core is in great shape going forward.
Oh yeah, by the by did anyone mention we are regularly dressing 3 Dmen who are 21 years old???
...and that doesn't even include 20 year old Jusso Valimaki, who probably has the highest ceiling of the bunch.

Also if Johnny, Monny and Lindy keep playing like this for the next 3 years,I would finally be feeling pretty confident that Johnny would re-sign in Calgary.

It's just hearsay, but even prior to the offseason changes and the subsequent storming of the season, seems like he was still happy in Calgary and welcomed the idea of re-signing here.
Considering that his hometown New Jersey and Philly are both in tailspin mode for the time being, I would imagine that his desire to be on a winning team trounces any desire to play for his home team.
And some redditor mentioned through the grapevine he was seeing a local girl. That always helps.

This the second best Flames team of my life time.
The first best won the Stanley Cup 3 weeks after I was born.

A new arena opening right before extension time, would also not hurt...

This is a good justification for the Flames going all-in over the next 3 years. Their window to contend is now.
I'd still like to see goaltending shored up and a touch more muscle in the lineup (my hopes for Reaves disappeared when Vegas decided they were still a good team though). Otherwise there's already enough depth on the back-end with Stone and Valimaki coming back for the playoffs, and enough top-end talent to get the job done. Neal returning to decent would be huge.
At this stage, the Flames should be setting their sights on Tampa, and looking to ensure they can beat that team in a 7 game series. They're in a great position to do that without mortgaging anything for at least the next few years. And as fun as a long playoff run would be, I would hate to lose to those ba$tards again.

All in for three years? Sure that’s fine but that still means no one year rentals. Trading a high pick for a guy who won’t stay with the team would be bad. Also most posters fantasyland scenarios of adding and signing a Stone or Duchene fail because of salary cap reasons. I’m not against making a trade but the Flames cap situation puts limits on how much salary they can take on. What I wouldn’t mind is a version of the Lazar trade that works out fine. Trade a pick for a change of scene guy. But the results need to be more Lindholm and less Lazar. So BT needs to choose his targets wisely. No one is going to trade a young cost controlled performer for a draft pick, so he needs to get creative.
