Nice coasting on Backlund on Fowler there to allow all sorts of time for Fowler to make that breakaway pass. All Backlund had to do was extend his stick out.

Anyone blaming Smith for that 3rd goal is just being ridiculous.

The first was a stinker for sure though. 2nd goal was partly on Smith and partly on the Flame player who lost his man.

All that being said, I agree, Smith has been brutal this year. Put Rittich in net tonight, and I think the Flames win this game easily.

Nobody is making excuses for Smith tonight. What are you talking about?

Everyone agrees that the first 2 goals were bad. The third was an all-star player doing all-star things when left all alone in the slot. Blaming Smith on that play is not only overkill, but objectively wrong.
