Default HNIC: Neal and Bennett Ice time issues

discussed on HNIC by Kypreos:

issue to find ice time for James Neal.
team is trying to find ways to increase his ice time
one option might be to trade a guy like Frolik

Bennett hasn't asked for a trade, but there was an issue of getting one shift after the fight the other night

I often get the sense that Kypreos just throws out ideas based on whatever he thinks ought to happen. I’m not convinced he has a lot of inside information about NHL teams or their players.

That is a little concerning about Bennett. Unless the logic was preventing retaliation from the Avs getting Bennett out there immediately. But that would be a bowl of malarky IMO. That whole scenario lit the fuse of that come back. And he's been playing strong enough to actually earn an increase in ice. I like Peters but I hope he doesn't make a habit of short changing impact players. probably just a one off scenario though.

I mean for Neal it's more about getting to where he needs to be instead of just throwing his ice time at him.

Didn't he get 17 minutes in penalties?

Yes he was in the box for most of the period. Kyprios didn't interpret the stat sheet correctly. So dumb.

Kyprios has no idea what is happening out west. That sounded totally made up.

Wasn't Bennet technically in the "box" until the game was almost over?

I can understand with the game still close at that time and Peters likely shortening his bench that Bennet would sit.

Yup. Hard to get ice time when you're serving a misconduct, after the game Peters came out and said he had shortnened the bench so I would safely assume that's why we didn't see Janko or Bennett much.

The Neal one is easier to understand, I 100% think he needs more minutes and better linemates but the first line is gelling too much to pull apart, and I'm not sure about Neal in a shutdown role with Backlund and Tkachuk. Trading Frolik doesn't solve that.

Kypreos just spittballing. He has no insider info on any team in the West, it might as well be a poster from HF saying these things

Yes

What time of the game was the fight?

If it worked out that they had a one goal lead maybe that line isn’t the one to be out?

Kypreous is a tool

Peters did say he shortened the bench after that. Janko didn't play even though he was healthy because peters wanted to extract some "juice" from his 3 lines.

Doesn't makes sense about Bennett. not sure when he got out of the box but he didn't see a lot of ice afterwards.

An issue according to who? Is the suggestion Bennett said something?

Bennett got 17 minutes in penalties with 3:07 left in the 2nd.

The very first whistle after Bennett's penalties were done, Bennett was on the ice with Monahan and Ryan. I guess he could have got a 2nd shift at some point in the last few minutes, but the lines were rolling and trying to hold the lead.

Bennett got 17 minutes, when there were 3 minutes left in the 2nd. SO he would have come out of the box with 6 minutes left.

Personally, I didn't notice that he only got one shift. But that is a bit surprising, because he was without question an impact player for them Thursday night.

And Bennett was given the sheriffs hat or whatever in the locker room for that game.

Is Neal really fit for the shut down line duty? The top line is set right now. I don’t see how that third line is really an issue especially how much Peters blends the lines when we are down.

How did Bennett get 17 minutes? now I am confused, I thought Cole got 5, 10 and a game and charging while Bennett only got 5 for fighting and an instigator? i'm confused now.

10 minute misconduct on top of the 5 and 2. By the time he got back in the game Peters was only really putting offensive forwards out there
