You betcha! I'm 19 and have the benefit of working for my super easy-going dad so it wasn't hard at all to get time off work!
Got time off for the Olympics, the NHL Trade Deadline coming up and then head back to work on the 1st

I'm watching the short track, it's only 9:30pm for me. It is both awesome and crazy you guys are staying up all night to watch the games. I tried it during Sochi and ended up getting really sick.
I just realised the next two Olympics are also in Asia so Calgarians won't be getting much sleep watching those either.

Ye, Tokyo and Beijing will not be convenient for us.. that’s what will make hosting in 2026 so worth it

There were no upsets in the Women's Hockey quarterfinals. Russia and Finland both advance to the semifinals.
USA plays Finland late Sunday night. Canada plays Russia early Monday morning. The winners will meet in the Gold Medal game on Thursday night.
----------
After a surprising regulation loss to Slovakia to open the Men's Hockey tournament, the Russians woke up and destroyed Slovenia and the USA, outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 12-2.
Russia wins Group B with 6 points. The rest of the field finishes with 4 points after Slovenia defeated Slovakia in a shootout.
Slovenia finished second in the Group with two OT/SO wins, USA and Slovakia end up third and fourth in the Group. None of them are a danger to get the bye to the quarterfinals.
----------
The only thing standing in Canada's way to a Quarterfinal bye is their own ability to defeat Korea in regulation, and the possibility of OT in the Sweden-Finland game. If Canada wins and the SWE-FIN game ends in regulation, Canada gets the bye.
Canada can guarantee the bye regardless of what happens in the FIN-SWE game if they defeat Korea by at least 5 goals. Korea lost to Switzerland 8-0, so a 5 goal differential isn't out of the question.
----------
Rachel Homan's Women's Curling rink finally woke up, dominating the team from the USA by a score of 11-3 in only 7 ends.
Their record is now 1-3, and can't afford any more stumbles, but they still have a chance.

^good recap. Canada can also get a bye by finishing on top of group A if the Swiss beat the Czechs.

Correct. If the Swiss win in regulation, Canada can win the group with any win over Korea. A Swiss OT win would require Canada to win in regulation to win the Group.
Winning the Group would get Canada an "easier" opponent in the Quarterfinal.
The Swiss-Czech game goes before Canada-Korea, so they'll know all the winning scenarios before their game starts (unless Willie doesn't tell them, like McLellan did to Team NA at the World Cup).

Alright, I've got 1 hour to burn on the CBC app. Which event(s) from the past 24 hours should I watch?

Definitely check out the gold medal run from the Women's Super G. The winner's reaction is amazing.

Mass women's biathlon is also cool. Seeing the graphics when 30 athletes shoot at once.
