Another Gibbons special. Let your starter put you in a hole before you finally pull him.

I sure hope Jansen is for real, because Martin is pretty much finished. Love the guy, but his bat has nothing left.

As for this rotation...if we were even getting middle of the pack starting pitching we'd be laughing. This is embarrassing now. Hopefully they can find a groove soon, but I won't be holding my breath that's for sure.

What a weird season so far.

Bottom of the AL starting pitching.
Only 23 games from JD so far.
Over $40 million tied up in Tulo with zero games and Martin with an 84 wRC+.
A DH that bats near the bottom of the order, has an $11 million price tag and a 35 wRC+.

Yet somehow they will still be .500 after this game ends.

Well, Deck is showing the other Jays how hitting is really done.

Maybe he can show the regular starters how to pitch too.

Can they just bring up Vlad Jr so I can get excited to watch them play?

Seriously tho this team needs a rebuild to fix the starting rotation. Would be a shame to see Vlad and co. come up and half to carry a poor starting rotation for years. Trading JD and Smoak may help fix this problem. Let the youth take over after this season.

Votto must be sick and tired of being constantly asked if he wants to play in Toronto to say that.

Or he's a piece of garbage like TAO stated.

My issue with that is why not just say something like "it's great for the sport in Canada and I hope it helps grow the game there". Absolutely no need to trash Canada like that. I'm sure even the guy who asked him that question didn't expect that.

Jackass comment. I don't think I'll be supporting him anymore.

But in an email posted on the Canadian Baseball Network website after the Reds lost 5-3 to the San Francisco Giants Tuesday night, Votto said he is "terribly ashamed" of his comments and called them "ridiculously selfish and short-sighted."

Votto added: "I am saddened that I was so flagrant with my remarks and more importantly that I offended so many people that mean so much to me."
Quote:
In his apology, Votto said being asked about baseball in Canada, the Blue Jays and the Paxton no-hitter recalled his resentment for not making Team Canada or being drafted by the Blue Jays out of high school and not being picked for the Olympic team while in the minors.

"Clearly my reply came out of a side of jealousy for a Canadian baseball athlete being celebrated in the city of Toronto. It was an odd reply and one I am terribly ashamed of," he wrote.

"I go back to Toronto each off-season and feel renewed every time I cross the border to my home and native land. I would not be where I am now without the efforts of so many Canadian baseball people and the fans of Canadian baseball.

"To James Paxton, the Blue Jays, the Toronto fans, the women and men all across Canada that work so hard to promote and support Canadian baseball, I am sorry for my selfish comments and I humbly ask for your forgiveness."

Joey Votto has always struck me as kind of off. I have a buddy who lives in the Cincy area and this guy is not marketed all that well. There have been rumours that he does not get along with his teammates, among other rumours that may affect his personality.

Canada doesn't really promote him much either. The guy is one of the best players in MLB and potentially the best hitter Canada has ever produced.

If he were to come tot he Blue Jays, that would all likely change.

Day Game Alert!

First pitch is at 11:10am - not sure what the weather is looking like in NY though, could potentially be another rain delay.

Is he going to force their hand, or is that outside the realm of possibility?
