What job? He didn't do anything as far as I can tell. He was pretty much a figurehead.

I think Benning at the time was considered a prospective GM at the time. That said given how monotone and awkward he comes off as a speaker I'm not exactly sure how he sold Linden on him being the best man for the job. It all worked out in the end for Flames fans though. Probably means Benning is doesn't see it through the end of his new contract which is not so good for Flames fans.
