Bouma signs PTO with Kings
Best of luck to him trying to revive his NHL career.

@DhaliwalSports
Lance Bouma has signed a PTO with the L.A Kings, spent last year in the Swiss League.

Looks like he only played 3 games for Geneve Servette in the Swiss League.

Good luck Boums! Can't fault his heart, it's just that his skills are worse than replacement level in the modern NHL.

Swiss league last year? Didn’t realize, or forgot. I doubt he catches on in the NHL, wonder what his plans are.

LA would be one of the easier teams for him to break into. Good luck to Lance.

Ouch that's a little harsh. He has a place in my view (which admittedly clashes with the FACT that he's only getting PTOs), but for the right price, he'd be a solid energy guy (he was for the Flames ignoring his salary at the time).

I still think the 2015 Hartley spark was really driven by Bouma's shot blocking and flat-out spirit. He energized that team to consistently defy the odds. Unfortunately these things rarely last more than a season, if that

The last time he was really good for the Flames was 2014/15. He followed that up with 2 years of 7 points (albeit shortened seasons). He then went to Chicago where he spent a big chunk of the year with Rockford even though Chicago's roster wasn't that great. Followed that with a year in the Swiss league where he played all of 3 games.
I just call it like I see it. He was borderline a few years ago, and he isn't becoming a better player as he approaches 30. I'm pulling for him, but his chances of playing much longer in the NHL are a little grim.

He only played 3 games because of knee surgery due to an injury sustained in the 3rd game of the season.

Good luck to him. I just looked, I though he was older than 29! I can't see him making it but I'd love to see him do it.

Right, but significant knee injuries at 29 for a guy who was never that great of a skater to begin with seems like a sizable obstacle for continuing a long career.

Don't need to skate fast to block shots with your face....
Guy has zero zero fear and does anything he has to to get the win. His playstyle has hurt his long term career though, but must be a very respected guy with his old team mates.

Uh, if you can't skate at a pretty decent level, you won't play, at least in today's game. It's much more the case than it was even 4 of 5 years ago, when Bouma was last effective.
Again, I hope he makes it, and I admire his courage and work ethic, but it's going to be tough sledding for him.

People are also forgetting that he ended up on Chicago, because the Flames bought him out. He was only making 2.2 million, if you're buying a player out for 2.2 million and 1 year left on the contract, you don't really think they're worth league minimum.
