Jesus, these bats.

Can't see the Jays dumping Grichuk, not this early anyways. Interesting to see what they do here. I never did understand why they got two outfielders in Granderson and Grichuk this offseason when I thought Hernandez easily showed he belonged at the the end of last season.

Jays sent 9 men to the plate in that inning. Nerd question incoming - does that count as a "bat-around" inning? Or do you need to get to 10 so one guy actually bats again? I personally think you need the 10th, but wondering what the consensus is

It's a bat around inning if all nine guys come up, yes.

Put me in the 10th player has to bat camp.
I googled it, appears there is no real consensus.

The Royals are so bad. As are the White Sox, Rangers, and Orioles.

But we played bad teams last year too and didn't roll them like we currently are.

Let's keep it going with the Yankees now.

What is this team gonna do if everyone is healthy at some point?

C - Martin / Maile
1B - Smoak
2B - Travis
3B - Donaldson
SS - Diaz
LF - Hernandez
CF - Pillar
RF - Grichuk
DH - Granderson / Solarte / Pearce

Morales has no place on this team anymore.

Granderson can spell out outfielders and DH
Pearce can spell out outfielders (although I'd rather he didn't lol) and DH
Solarte should play just about everyday, and can spell out infielders and DH

Grichuk IMO is going to get time sort things out, especially if we're winning.
Travis will also get lots of time to sort things out at the plate.

Good problem to have for sure, lots of solid depth, but they need to do something with Morales. All he can do is DH, but I'd take any of those other three guys at DH before him.

Even when everyone is healthy, Tulo is still injured.

Jays are going to need all the depth for the impending long playoff run....half a calendar year away.

The question is when Morales returns, will the Jays reassign Hernandez?

There's a saying in baseball about not relying on September or Spring training performance to make an assessment on a player. Going into the season with Hernandez would have been like assuming Pompey was ready in 2014.

I'd say it's 50-50. I'd bet a lot that barring any other injuries he does go down when Donaldson returns if not when Morales returns. I mean... we can't carry 6 outfielders and the only guy not hitting is Grichuk (who has no options left).

They really ought to be trying to find him a new home... like offer him straight up to Miami for Martin Prado (or something like that).

Looks like Donaldson’s DL stint has been extended.

I don't recall Pompey handling the bat quite as well as Hernandez has and really wasn't much of Pompey's issues injury related?

I am glad the Jays are in this predicament as it means everyone is swinging the bat well. But outside of the bats it seems that Gibbons is being a little more aggressive out there and the base running seems vastly improved over last year.

It sure has looked much better with the added speed.
Just the amount of times they can go 1st to third on a single has looked better.
No more playing it one base at a time and solely relying on home runs.
