Well poop. This is extremely troubling considering his injury woes last season and the relatively light schedule he's had thus far. Hopefully this is not a big deal or it may be enough to derail the progress he's made the last few events.

Maybe not the wisest move to try to play through the injury he suffered yesterday, that said, he is a competitor and I'm sure very frustrated that he can't shake the injury bug.

Fed's trainer talked about why, other than the increased rally length and exertion, he can't play on the red stuff anymore. supposedly hard court has a hard, short shock effect on your joints, while the sliding on clay is a softer, but longer shock. that type bothers Fed's reconstructed knee, while for Rafa it's the reverse.
it would be nice if any of our Canadian stars and youngins could make inroads into the April/May part of the schedule, but it's still nigh impossible for North Americans. they may think the clay is their ally, but they merely adopted the clay. Euros were born in it, molded by it.

Love the reference, my favorite superhero movie of all time.
Speaking of superhero's Rafa today absolutely destroyed his closest competition for the French Open in Thiem beating him 6-0 6-2.

Cilic and Nishikori are slugging it out on the Monte Carlo dirt - Currently in the third set and on serve at 3-3 with Kei serving (approaching the 3 hour mark)
Edit: Kei gets a late break of serve and wins it 6-4 6-7 6-3 (match time was 2:55)

Zverev prevails in a grueling 2 hours and 39 minutes - Nice embrace at the end of the match between the two competitors (both guys emptied the tank in this one).

Nadal rolls over Dimitrov 6-4 6-1 to reach the Monte Carlo final. Sasha Zverev is currently up a set over Kei Nishikori.
Edit: All of a sudden, Nishikori rips off 4 straight games and we're going to a third and deciding set.

I actually think it will be a pretty competitive match tomorrow. Still picking Nadal to win, I'm going to guess 6-4,6-3.

Canada and Ukraine tied 1-1 after day 1 of the Fed Cup World Group II tie - Genie won her singles match to wrap up the day after Bianca Andreescu was forced to retire in the 3rd set with an injury.

I haven't seen any mention yet but Canada has drawn Netherlands at home in the Davis Cup in September. Location TBD of course. I doubt Alberta gets back to back home ties. Heres hoping it's in Vancouver.

What a final , so many great shots and great play from Kei. Got to give him credit he played a hell of a match if he plays anybody else on the planet today he wins. For Rafa this is his 11tg title here, 31st Masters 1000 title (both records) and he has won 36 straight sets on clay dropping only 72 games or 2 games per set. The first set shows just how crazy Rafa on Clay really is. Kei breaks Rafa and is up 2-1 and serving. You blink and it's 5-2 Nadal.

I haven't seen Genie dig down deep like this in a very long time.

Genie with another big point for Canada taking the match 4-6 6-2 7-6(5). Tsurenko is currently ranked #41 in singles, so that's a nice win for Genie.

Truly proud of her. To do it at home and take the team on her back, especially with injuries to the other singles players. Bravo Genie!
Now let's see Gaby can do.
Let's go, ladies!

Last rubber (doubles match) will decide the tie as Ukraine levels things at 2-2. Let's go Gaby and Bianca!
