Yeah Phillips will not produce like that all season. He's on pace for 185 points. The leading scorer in the WHL is usually 120 points or so.

Only three players have put up 2 points per game since the turn of the century (Comrie, Sven, Bjorkstrand)

There's 10 players over that mark right now. Scoring seems way up to start the year. I imagine it will level off soon and Phillips will end up right around 100 points again considering that he will miss a dozen games for the Juniors.

1 measly goal for Phillips tonight.

Valimaki also must have been sick again.

Tri-City Americans ticket holder here. Get the joy of watching Valimaki often. Stoked when he was drafted by the Flames. He's been out with flu...

Uncharacteristically (at least for this season) quiet game for Ruzicka. 0pts +1 no SOG in a 6-1 Sarnia win. Won 12/19 faceoffs though.

Phillips and Dube named to Team WHL for the Canada Russia series games on November 6 and 7th. Which is no surprise as players named to this team are on the radar for the WJC.

1 assist through 2 periods so far for Phillips bringing him to at least 25 points in 11 games which is a 163 point pace over a 72 game season to start here. I think with world juniors this year Phillips is gonna most likely end up with 5 to 10 games less and his scoring should level out but he could put up 120 this year if he keeps a good clip.

Edit - quick note too on his size as a lot of people are mentioning how much smaller he is than Johnny; Phillips is listed as 5’6 141 lbs on HDB (Johnny is 5’9 157 lbs on HDB)

So I could see where people think that’s a considerable difference but Phillips is listed as 5’7 155 lbs on his WHL player page now so u can see the progress he’s making both in his skill and how he’s grown a little more into his smaller frame. He put up 50 pims last year too so he’s not afraid to stand up for himself.

I know Dube is pretty much a lock for the World Juniors but I have never got the impression that Phillips was a favourite to make the team. Though I haven't been following it too closely.
