If you can maximize return then yes. No reason not to.

Yeah, and it's only natural. If you've invested in a project you don't want to admit that it's totally broken and scrap it. You're more likely just to tinker. It's sunk cost fallacy at this point to stay with a large chunk of this core. It's not working, it will never work, it's been apparent for two seasons and it's abundantly clear now.

This is good. No false hope with a random win streak in the middle of the season. This is not a team that can win the cup. Not even close.

We need Sutter to come out of retirement. The only man that would be able to hold these guys accountable and inspire them.

Come at me bro as well, standing with Cali on this one. I think Ottawa would spend a stupid amount of good assets on Mathew Tkachuk too.

I get the feeling that the players have quit of the coach. They don't seem confident in playing Ward's system of hockey.

Top players should be looking themselves in the mirror after a game like that, and asking what it is they do here, exactly.
Artemi Anisimov, Drake Batherson, and Evgenii Dadanov showed you up and did that job better than you, in an important game for your team.
And they're just playing for pride at this point.
Time for some deep reflection for Mark, Johnny, Sean, Elias and Matthew.

Not only does it cost time, it allows the other team to totally play THEIR game and prep just the way their coaches have told them to...and...yup, another turnover. Blech.
The only time this team plays well is when they play on instinct and forget the crap their coach is telling them to do.

Personally I would not move Tkachuk, Flames should have already moved Gaudreau
Next Flame to move would be Monahan.

Also, you are welcome Ottawa! Finally, they got to play the Flames and pick up some free points.. we are helping them get back into the playoff picture.

Highest paid player on the team, and will get another raise in the near future. Slow. Does not look motivated. If he's not playing at 100% he is usually a non-factor.
I would definitely trade him if the right deal was offered.

I would stop trying to surround that forward group with better talent. You aren't winning with them. They are the one constant. That's where the change needs to happen.
|
Well they've made significant moves (all in the offseason) to downgrade the defensive corps and it took them until Gaudreau had just two years left to finally get a goalie.
I think you can win with Gaudreau and Tkachuk on your wings. You definitely can't win with seven NHL forwards in your lineup, though. But Brad's biggest mid-season forward acquisition of his tenure has been Curtis Lazar.
He does not make the necessary adjustments and I would be surprised to see him start.

Absolutely no one is untouchable.
I’d say Jacob Markstrom is the closest thing we have to an untouchable player, because you can’t win without elite goaltending and hey - for the first time in a decade, we have it.
...now how to fix absolutely everything else.
This organization, through nothing but pure incompetence, has established a losing culture. Only way to fix it is by cutting out all the rot.
