This sucks, but 110 in 71 gets you a Hart. Full stop.

I hope it's Leon.

Oilers with multiple Hart trophy winners and STILL miss the playoffs. Would be glorious.

Just imagine a world where the Oil took Bennett and left us Draisaitl

The gap between MacKinnon and his teammates is pretty large. Nate should win.

24 points in 14 games without the next two best forwards is a crazy stat. He's on a whole other level.

This trophy will likely be Draisaitl’s and, honestly, deservedly so.

I actually think Panarin should win this one. I've read a couple of articles that make fairly convincing arguments. He's had an incredible year and had a lot less to work with.

How it's supposed to be awarded (MVP to his team): Nathan MacKinnon

How it's traditionally been awarded (Points and outstanding play): Leon Draisaitl

I actually think there is a case for people other than Draisaitl if you consider defensive play, or value even strength points more than PP. Personally I think Panarin deserves the MVP and there have been a lot of articles / overall stats based views that support that.

Here is their point production:

Draisaitl:
-ES: 56
-PP: 44 (McDavid has 43)

Panarin:
-ES: 59
-PP: 24

Mackinnon:
-ES: 52
-PP: 31

Does Draisaitl deserve the Hart over Panarin because he gets to play on a PP with McDavid...I'm not sure.

Especially if you look at 200ft game and overall impact at Even Strength.

Draisaitl:
-GF: 80
-GA:77
-GF%: 51.0%
-xGF%: 47.5%

Panarin:
-GF: 89
-GA: 49
-GF%: 64.5%
-xGF%: 55.0%

Mackinnon:
-GF: 81
-GA: 51
-GF%: 56.2%
-xGF%: 54.3%

Give me the guys that actually keep the puck out of their own net too. Draisaitl had a great offensive season, but he was also the forward on the ice for the most even strength goals against in the league (77).

well it gets you the Art Ross, I'll concede that

I get that he's probably win, and that won't be a travesty or anything

but McKinnon's team has 93 points and he has 48 more points that the next highest scoring forward on his team

Drai's team has 82 points and he has a 13 point cushion on the next highest (and worlds dreamiest) forward on his team

That’s fair, but seeing how the Hart Trophy has been awarded the last few years, Draisaitl was on pace for 127 points this year. If the point totals between the three was closer, it might be a different situation.

MacKinnon is deserving of some hardware for the season he has had though.

When MacKinnon was asked, he said Panarin deserved to win. He didn't even mention anyone else.

MacKinnon is absolutely in McDavid's ballpark and I hope he outshines him (with the hardware that actually matters) when all is said and done.

Leon seems like a piece of crap person and fits the oilers like a glove but admittedly was a production machine. Just still don't trust him defensively as far as I could throw him, but when you're scoring that much it doesn't really matter a whole lot.

Draisaitl was OBJECTIVELY the worst player in the league for a stretch that ended up being a quarter of the season.

That should disqualify him from winning.

Leon isn't the best player on his team. I don't see how he's the most valuable to his team based on the award description

Panarin or Mackinnon should win. Draisaitl might just win based on points pace though.
