The only one who should be bitching about what JG eats is himself, his Significant Other and his mother. Oh, and maybe a really cool aunt or two. The rest of us need to thank our lucky ducks that he is on our team and he's amazing.
Let's try to see the forest through the trees.

If you aren't conditioned to play lots of games within short times frames, you may not last long in the grind of the playoffs.
It's a poor excuse to trot out at the worst of times.

also, in the playoffs your opponents are playing the exact same amount of games in the same period of time so there is no advantage/disadvantage there.

It's fine when you're 25 but catches up with you at 45.

Why do you believe that the flames suffer from lack of conditioning. There is a measureable decrease in point percentage for teams playing the 3rd in 4 nights. Unless the flames are measurably worse at this than other teams then it’s likely not a Conditioning issue

This one was on the road as well. Travel takes the stuffing out of you sometimes, even within a time zone.

If Johnny ate more vegetables, he would have scored in the shootout tonight. Sad.

A player that comes to mind is Martin St. Louis. Just google image search "Martin St. Louis legs" and look at the size of those tree trunk legs. That's what made him such a beast for a shorter player. He was so strong on the puck and it was hard to knock him off of the puck due to his immense leg strength. This strength didn't seem slow down his speed either, it seemed like the more leg strength he had, the faster he was. He clearly worked year round in the gym, particularly in the off season, gaining size and strength. This can only be done if he focused on his diet as well, which he clearly did. Size and strength is not just about working out, it's also about your diet and the macro-nutrients as well as micro-nutrients you're getting.
Gaudreau on the other hand seems to be the exact same size as he was during his rookie year. He clearly doesn't train to put on size and strength, nor does he focus on diet. Just imagine if he was 15-20 lbs heavier and had Marty St. Louis like leg strength, he would be a #####ing animal out there and most likely the best player in the world, considering as good as he is right now.
St. Louis was listed as 5'8" 175-180lbs, Gaudreau is listed at 5'9" 157lbs.
There answer is right there in the numbers lol, numbers don't lie. I'm not bashing Gaudreau, he's a tremendous player, but I really do believe if he had the motivation to work his a** off to be the best, work during the off-seasons, put on some size and strength, and focus on his diet, he could very well be the best player in the world right now. But clearly, he lacks that focus.

Bump, because this is still true today.

Epic thread revival. Cue the people who can't handle the truth, and their online emotional support group. Truth hurts for a lot of you - and those same people will paint it as "negativity!!!!!"

Yeah, not really.
I mean, yes, I agree that Gaudreau's diet is a problem that has almost certainly held him back in the past (does it still? I don't think anyone really knows outside of the organization.)
But I fundamentally disagree that the solution for him is to pack on another 15-20 lbs. It seems likely to me that additional body bulk is as likely to hinder his mobility as it is to strengthen his durability.
