So the seeding goes

1/2. Vegas/Colorado
3/4. Dallas/St Louis

6. Calgary
7. Arizona
8. Chicago
Since this round wasn't officially play-offs, does the seeding represent the official regular season position?

I guess another way to ask it is, was the play-in round meant to round out the regular season?

I am confuze.

Maybe Hughes does deserve the Calder?

He would be a fantastically worthy choice. So would Makar.

Watched the highlights this morning and, oddly, find myself happy to see the Canucks going through.

I think it's partly because the Wild bore me to death, but also because this iteration of the Canucks is actually kind of fun to watch as an outsider, and not nearly as loathsome as the diving versions of years past.

I'm sure I'll learn to hate them soon enough though.

Don't think too much about it LOL. The Bruins won the President's Trophy but they will not be the #1 seed.

Maybe (if they end up having to do this type of thing in the future again) it would be good to have the round robin be for a lower draft position, rather than playoff seeding. If I was the Bruins (or any future top seed) I’d be pretty choked to lose that advantage in a meaningless tournament after working all season for that privilege.

I now want.more tham anything for the Wild to get Lafreniere. Of all the teams in the final lottery, they need him most. Parise, Koivu are not long for the NHL.

Agreed. Let him go to a team actually starved of top tier talent and keep him away from clubs that have already been spoiled with riches in the past (Pitts/Edm).

A lot of scuttlebutt coming out of Minnesota that this was Koivu's last game.

I was shocked to see Koivu on their fourth line. It doesn't feel like that long ago when he was centering their top line. Damn. I'm getting old.

Overall

Nothing concrete, but it seems everyone who is talking about it from Minnesota seems to know something no one else does.

Koivu has been a good player for a long time but its clear father time has caught him and reeled him in.

37 now and a UFA to be. It makes a lot of sense that he would call it a career. Unlikely to get much of an offer to return anywhere....if he is to get one at all beyond a PTO/2 way contract.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see someone throw a little
Money at Koivu. Never discount the idiot GMs with eyes for players who used to be good.
