That's because everyone's normal down there.

I bet my commute from Silverado to my new job is shorter than most of you inner city dwellers anyways

Well considering he hired him, I would assume so.

The City Manager hires all department General Managers, not the Mayor.

Obviously, I cannot comment on whether the mayor likes particular personnel at the City.

Why is 210th Avenue not the top priority for the city?!! Top priority I say!!
You better believe I deserve my $300k 3000sq ft house and free flowing traffic all the way there.

I suppose a person could fly to work in Okotoks everyday. Yeah that would be real practical.

Ezra Levant @ezralevant15m
I've never beat my wife, or anyone. But do let me know if your "personal life" is fair game. “ @nenshi: When did you stop beating your wife?
Clearly a reference to Nenshi's sexuality. Does anybody actually care in this day and age? The guy is a brown Muslim ffs. I think we've moved past this kind of thing as a society.

Most of us have. People who follow Ezra Levant on twitter likely have not.

Nenshi now claims to have shared hotel rooms with Levant back in his youth. Most bizarre Twitter exchange ever.

Nenshi and Levant were classmates in the early 1990s at U of C and were also debate competition teammates during this time.

That honestly doesn't look good for the Mayor and he should have shown a little restraint. Replying with the beat your wife question is a quick snap back at Ezra's own loaded question about Pembina, he's not actually asking if he beat just giving him his own impossible question to answer.
In the twitter world, tweeting back to him with that is just a bad call though. It's not to be misunderstood and then the fake outrage will follow from the Nenshi detractors who understand what he was going for.

Both of them come across like petty children in that exchange.

don't kid yourself though. Set aside Levant's theatrics for a moment. The Pembina questions are valid questions.
The city engaged a consultant group who is active in looking to cease development of oilsands. That has direct and secondary impact to many, many Calgarians.
It is fair to ask for an explanation and accountability on the issue.

It's funny though because whenever Pembina is brought up it tends to have a bit of threatre behind the question. Your post about it, pre-edit, was a little dramatic too.

Nenshi still hasn't answered the original question that led to the wife beating comment.

my post pre-edit stated that I dismissed the Pembina story as fake as there is (or was ) no way that the mayor of a city whose affluence is dependent upon the energy industry and especially the oilsands would engage the Pembina institute. I asked if the mayor knew how downtown raised money to pay their bills.
I edited it out because I wanted an answer on the Pembina issue, without the theatrics.
I'll leave the theatrics to the mayor and Levant.
But the point remains. What is the deal with the Pembina institute contract, and i'll go further now, and ask for an actual answer on Levant's question donations and volunteers.

Pembina Public Sector Clients:
Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development
Alberta Environment
Alberta Ministry of Finance and Enterprise
Alberta Sustainable Resource Development
Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment
Environment Canada
Natural Resources Canada
etc

Corporate clients include - BP Canada, EnCana, Shell Canada, ConocoPhillips Canada, Alberta Oilsands inc.

I don't know the specific details of what Pembina did for the City, but Pembina does consulting on a wide array of environmental and energy issues, for a lot of different clients including the oil patch and the Alberta Government.
Manufactured outrage from the Sun and Levant.
