You are correct, my error (and the error of the 'Hawks), dominating puck possession, until the collapse. But, I will fix.

Yes, but they were “leading” the whole time until the Oilers scored that first goal.

All good, but the rest of the analysis is gold. Greatly appreciated.

Sure sounded like smith would start as of yesterday. Maybe he looked awful in practice?

Yeah, pretty much exactly what I said in another thread - why is there a special rule for #1 goalies? All players should have to earn their ice-time. And Rittich has played incomparably better, so far this season.

There is plenty of time left for Smith to get his ice-time. But for today, Rittich has earned the net.

A few years ago it used to be only the most elite two or three teams in the NHL scoring at least 3.00 goals per game. Today 21 teams have at least that many.

Until the avs scored 6 goals (and lost) last night, the Flames were the #1 NHL team in goals scored. They can get back into first by scoring 6 tonight!

8-2 Flames! They will finally score a second period goal tonight!

Yay.

Deserved. And IMO, the correct decision. Sends the message to the team that everyone is accountable.

Interesting to look at the lineups...

For years, the Hawks had 6 (if not more) legitimate top 6 forwards, while the Flames (like most teams) had 4, with two fillers. Now the Hawks have 4 and 2 while the Flames have 6 legitimate guys with Bennett knocking on the door.

Defensively, the Hawks had the arguably league-best core of Keith, Seabrook and Kjamarsson, with lots of solid role guys to round out the roster. Now the Flames have the solid D with a guy like Stone unable to crack the lineup despite being a 4/5 guy on many teams - and definitely on the Hawks.

The inevitable changing of the guard.

(If only we could solidify things in the crease.)

Looking forward to the Dome Beers tonight!

Hawks will be desperate but the Flames are rolling so if the Flames get the lead early they should be able to hopefully cruise to a victory.

1-1-1 Dome record for me this year

Nice to see they made the right call with Rittich. Hopefully he can take the ball and run with it now.

Well, with the game starting at 8:00 tonight I really hope Bo Levi works out the kinks in quarterbacking the powerplay. We need the touchdown support when we're up a man.

I'm still a bit worried about the defence, it's letting in far too many goals, especially our vaunted last line of defense, Singleton.

Again with the powerplay issues I'm leaning towards Coach Dickenson declining penalties and taking the yardage a bit more for sure. And maybe swapping out a few players in the woeful second PP unit with some of the bigger O-line bruisers.

As for the running game, maybe if they slot in Dube instead of Williams or Jackson we'll get some speed up the middle.

As for Johnny, he should be good for kicking in a few goals for 3 points each.

Now, as for dealing with Chicago's top line, if we can stop Trubisky from shooting and tie up some of their best receivers like Garbriel and Robinson II then all we have to do is stop Kane's speed up the middle.

Should be able to win this one by a touchdown followed by a late empty net goal.

I don't think our D can stop 2-point conversions!
