That would surprise me. He has struggled to score, but otherwise Ryan has been a very reliable player especially in the Flames zone. It would make much more sense for Hathaway to come back out. He has just not been very good.

I'm waiting to be impressed by Ryan. C'mon man, you can't really be a fourth liner for the $$$! I would forget about the overpay but it's so in my face when you see him on the PP.
Colorado defensive meltdown, 6-1 Flames. Bennett x 2, Monahan x 2, Dube and Neal. And I start betting Sports Select tomorrow.

Apparently Smith has put up his best numbers against the Avalanche over his career than any other team. On the flip side Smith has not played well at home for the Flames so something will have to give tonight.

Unless Rittich turns into Kipper, (which is of course possible) we should keep getting Smith his reps, even after strong games from Rittich, and just count our lucky stars that we have a back-up that can win games. I remember all those years were we got 0 wins from our backups. If we want to make the playoffs and do damage it's in our best interest to have Smith playing at his best. That means rest, and confidence. I'm not guaranteeing it'll happen, but we should be doing everything we can to encourage it!
I'm going to predict the all need-a-goal-deperately team game.
Backlund, Bennett, Dube, Neal, Ryan in another strong game from top to bottom - 5-1 for the good guys!

I'm definitely waiting for the moment when you see more from Ryan. Seems like a solid, dependable player you can run out every night, but he is certainly highly overpaid if he doesn't start bringing a little more offensively.

This assertion is not usually that true, but this game it will be. The Avalanche are suffering from quite a few injuries.
J.T. Compher may resume contact on Wednesday Oct 30
Sven Andrighetto week-to-week with LBI Oct 30
Tyson Jost is out with a head injury Oct 27
It is safe to say that their fourth line will not see much ice. And most of their offense without Jost and Compher in the lineup will go through their top line.
All the same, The Avs defence is improved from previous years. Johnson and Barrie are always good, and the young Sam Girard is developing into a real talent. Almost more importantly, we should expect excellent goal tending (I hope I am jinxing them). It is no coincidence they made the playoffs last year, and are on pace to do the same this year.
The Avs play a very opportunistic style. Fat turn overs like the Flames gave the Sabres will turn into goals very quickly against this team.

The Avs top line has combined for 55 points so far this season. The rest of the Avs team have combined for 55 points so far this season.
If we can effectively play against that top line the other match-ups should favor the Flames, especially if 3M can do the defensive heavy lifting and leave Monny, Johnny and Lindholm to outmatch their opposition.
4-2 Flames

Against the first line only. No depth at all. Although they did take a step forward this year by getting rid of Blake Comeau.

I have a feeling the RealDeal is going to come up big tonight. He's getting some looks and now that October is over and the season starts to gain momentum and mean something, he'll chip in with a big goal...

People are over rating our depth around here or under rating theirs.
Our top line combines for 43 points.
Other lines combine for 42. Which is proped up by Tkachuks 14 points.

I was just going to post this. If you think the Avs are frauds, then so are the Flames.
Hopefully they can get some secondary scoring today and win!

The post was their top line vs. the rest of their team. Which is 55-55.
Our top line vs. the rest of our team is 43-67.
Both include defensemen.

It's the time that our support guys contribute goals tonight. Ryan, Jankowsky and Dube will score. But not sure about final score. Go Flames Go!
