This should be up your alley:

Peaches has a cover of Throbbing Gristle on a forthcoming tribute album. It’s a fundraiser for Genesis P-Orridge’s medical bills.

Probably my most anticipated album of the year (and it comes out on my birthday ).

Myles Kennedy has released the second single off his upcoming solo album. Going to be a really good one I feel.

That is sad news. I relied on their monthly magazine to try and stay vaguely connected in the 90's.
Living in Japan seemed much more isolated pre-internet.
The New Music Monthly had a 15 to 20 track CD of the new / Indie music and was a lifeline for me.
"CMJ New Music Monthly was a monthly music magazine with interviews, reviews, and special features published from 1993[4] to 2009. Each issue included a compact disc with 15 to 24 songs by well established bands, unsigned bands, and everything in between. As of issue 156 (1112 using the CMJ New Music Report numbering), dated June 20, 2009, the magazine ceased operation, and subscribers had their remaining issues replaced by the CMJ New Music Report with a music compilation available online.[5] By April 2010, it stopped delivering CMJ New Music Report to its subscribers.[6]"

I used to love CMJ as well. I still have a folder full of the CDs. I also posted on their message board until it was shut down, and kept in touch with some of their writers for awhile after that.

Yeah I also still have all the CD's. There was some really good stuff on them.
I moved on from CMJ when the internet became reliable and I started listening to WOXY. I was fairly active on their forums (as was Troutman I think).
That also sadly died about 7 years ago.
I have never really found a good source of mixed new-ish alternative/indie/?? that I get new ideas from.
I have been very limited in using Spotify, etc. - not sure why I am reticent to use these services they might be a good source for new music.

Since WOXY ended, I've been listening mostly to The Current (MPR), KEXP, 3WK, CBC3 and CJSW of course.

Others I bookmarked on TuneIn: substrate, iradiophilly, KCRW, radio boise, NPR all songs, WMBR
