I'm sure the January shopping rush will get them up to 10% occupancy.

I'm thinking they could of ran a killer Christmas Market in there over the last few weekends.

Might of been too tough matching vendors with landlords, but maybe would of been worth it to get some positive PR, at least some rental revenue and get some foot traffic through.

Lost opportunity.

It sounds like they are attempting to do just that:

A mall in the middle of nowhere filled with nothing but kiosks? How many cheap cellphone cases and shirts that say "female body inspector" do we need?

A friend of mine was telling me those shirts don’t work. You have to pass the test and become a licensed bikini inspector

As an aside, I wonder how hard the mall owners are working to get tennants as I would assume they are already making money as the units have been sold and presumably the unit holders are paying monthly utility costs.

That guy in that article above cracked me up as he seemingly jumped in because he heard the units were selling like hot cakes and it seems like he gave little thought about what he was buying, and who might lease the space.

Put up curtains, get a hot plate, bar fridge, a futon and you have a place to live.

Actually it would be a cool AirBNB if somebody wanted to visit there.

Except they are $200k. You can get a condo with a real kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and not be in Balzac for that price.

Could take all that free swag from trade shows and open a store. Brilliant.

Fine. Not a condo. Mild security prison then?

They should market it as a giant playpen for kids. Drop them there while you go to the real mall for shopping. They could have ball pits, and slides, big wheels and power wheels...

I'm dying for Dan Bell to go international for this one. How often do you have the chance to cover a mall that's dead from day one? Plus we'd get that sweet sweet Calgary-themed vaporwave intro.

I had a friend that had a "female body inspector" t-shirt that she used to wear. She was straight and thought it meant that she was a female and was a "body inspector". I tried to explain to her what it really meant but she refused to believe me.
