Pretty much at a loss for words at this point. This is pretty surreal.

Lol best part right now is he's supposed to be in a challenger in Vancouver next week. I would say his challenger days are probably over after that (if he plays it), up to #67 in the world now with the win.

So, do we cheer for Anderson now because Sasha Zverev is scary good these days.

I want Zverev, I want the birth of the next great rivalry, even if it might be a one sided match. As great as the Roger-Rafa revival tour has been this year, it's time for the next gen to start making noise.

So does that mean he's in the main draw for the US Open and doesn't have to qualify??

Has to qualify, too late for a wildcard and I believe he's not eligible for automatic entry through his ranking though I'm not 100% sure on that one.

Zverev looked at least a bit vulnerable for the majority of his match vs. Anderson, though he found a new gear towards the end. Of course it would be another major upset but it's not a complete impossibility for Denis given how he's playing (as opposed to Federer, who I don't think he even has a puncher's chance against if he makes it through). It'll be a final worth watching, either way.

at least one media vote for the Shapovanator!
http://www.tennis.com/pro-game/2017/...povalov/68502/
Quote:
It has been a long time since the men had a showcase night match at a major event between a 20-year-old and an 18-year-old, but the ATP’s dogged NextGen project has born fruit over the last two weeks. Zverev won the title at the Citi Open, and Shapovalov has made himself the story of the week in Montreal, beating Juan Martin del Potro and Rafael Nadal. More than anything, the two youngsters have out-competed their elders. Zverev saved a match point on a 46-shot rally against Richard Gasquet, while Shapovalov has responded to every moment of adversity like a pro. The first of what should be many meetings between these two longhairs should be one to watch.
Winner: Shapovalov

Hey everyone I'm a long time reader but first time poster. Love your discussions on tennis excited about finally posting. I'm a huge Nadal fan but I'm also a Fed fan and recognize that Federer is the GOAT. Hope to see what The Shap has tonight against Zherev. Excited for Canadian tennis (although upset his big win came against Nadal). I don't think it's hyperbole to think Canada could win a Davis Cup in 5 years

At the Svitolina/Halep match. Halep has done nothing but hit unforced errors on her forehand. Currently down 5-0 in the first set

Svitolina is playing some fine tennis - Halep has upped her game somewhat, but she's down a break early in the second set.

If I didn't know better, I'd say this match was fixed. Terrible hitting by Halep
