Watched the teaser yesterday and it was great. Forgot how good this show is. Set up to be a super intense season.

Watched the season premiere last night. I recommend rewatching the first season before you do because I had a hard time remembering who a lot of the minor characters were.

Really good start to the season though. I forgot how much I loved this show's style and tone.

I hope not cause that's really taking the show off the deep end with the "what's real and what's not real" angle and it would be overkill if not done right. I mean as a viewer you'd lose all ability to trust that anything you see in the show is actually happening.

My thoughts:

- Im positive his friend is an illusion. In the scene where he throws the basketball away and then leaves, people start to move away from Elliot even though it appeared like he was just quietly sitting there. So it was probably him that actually picked up the ball and caused the scene.

- His mom isn't there and he's living alone. I'm not as sure about this one but the fact that we don't see her interacting with Elliot makes me think she's not there.

- I think everything else was real. Still haven't been able to put my finger on what happened with Tyler Welleck. Did Elliot shoot him with the gun that was hidden in the popcorn machine?

My thoughts:

The writers are purposefully trying to make it confusing. Reality and illusion are the most common themes in the show. The conflict between Mr. Robot and Elliot is intended to mirror the conflict between fsociety and the economic structure it intends to attack. The symbolism means to create a parallel between the modern debt system and the fake ego people construct around their given names. Elliot is the illusion, his existence in the economic structure as a named and numbered entity is the same as debt created through fractional reserve banking using fiat currency. Mr. Robot is his shadow, his deep down emotions personified as his father (maybe not actually his father, we'll see). Good proof of this is how Mr. Robot says people see Mr. Robot sometimes indicating Elliot has an artificial personality. The crux of it is that Elliot has no identity anymore, he has no identifying features about his ego besides the ones which are part of his mental illnesses.

The purpose is to make the viewer question reality and feel as though it's nearly impossible to decipher reality from illusion. His laughing fit was a symptom of him suffering the worst form of schizophrenia as well as dissociative identity disorder (quite possibly the worst psycholigical illness combo there is and it's generally incurable). The show will play on his two major illnesses because his ego conflict is meant to mirror societies ego conflict, as above so below if you will. When Gideon gets taken out and he's called a crisis actor this is what I mean, it's a statement that creates illusion and confusion if you understand the theory of what a crisis actor is. By definition he couldn't be a crisis actor but he was called that and it makes no sense whatsoever, much the same as with Elliots personality.

The writers are trying to portray that everything is an illusion and we can leave the illusion at anytime. But we like our prisons. It's another Matrix like point of view.

Elliot can't leave though, he tried. Mr. Robot won't leave and is slowly taking over his core personality to the point Elliot can no longer restrict him from acting. His ego is transforming from an idealist to a pragmatist that is unfortunately also murderous.

Craig Robinson's character is some kind of counsillor or treatment provider? The whole part about them seeing eye to eye. And how would Elliot even have met that guy outside of the basketball court? I guess it's also possible he's a delusion, but that's strange. Or maybe he's in on the Mr. Robot hack and was instructed to meet at the basketball court. He could also be a police officer.

I thought he was a therapist too but I mean the show has to eventually get Elliot back into hacking so I'm starting to think he's legit. Maybe trying to manipulate Elliot as he knows he's sick.

Brilliantly cast in my opinion.

This show...frustrating, infuriating, sometimes boring, fascinating, riveting, brilliant. Sometimes it even transcends time and space like when Elliot let it all loose at his support group. Rami Malek's acting

Stupid PVR cut off almost 15 minutes of this week's episode. I recorded the rebroadcast thinking it had just cut off the last few seconds, but then it kept going.

This show. Wow. I cant describe why I thought that episode was great, but it was. Its just every part of it feels like its part of something bigger. Then there's the acting and writing which is probably some of thr best on television.

Why arent more people watching this.

Watched the first 3 episodes of this season. I am finding it pretty boring so far.

Season 1 was great, but I am not sure since the audience knows the 'mystery' behind mr. robot if there is much meat left on the bone.

I hope they can somehow stop spending 2/3 of the episodes dealing with his inner battle with his split personality.

I look at Episode 1 (pt 1 & 2) and Episode 2 as setting the stage for the season. You can't just jump in with crazy stuff happening right off the bat. Elliot just had the mother of all mental breakdowns, how believable would it have been if he was just immediately back to old Elliot hacking away on some new scam?

The show is incredibly complex and requires careful consideration. His personality issues are a metaphor for modern society and play an integral role in the philosophy being presented. His imaginary friend is analogous to fiat/digital currency. A fundamental flaw that can not be managed or reasoned with.

Elliott struggles with Mr. Robot the same way in which Mr. Robot struggles with society. Eternally fighting an illusion is about as cerebral a conflict one could create.
