Even Adam Zaruba hates 7's.

http://www.ctvnews.ca/sports/philade...deal-1.3517316

Quote:
The Philadelphia Eagles have signed Canadian rugby sevens player Adam Zaruba to a three-year contract.
Things are moving quickly for the 26-year-old from North Vancouver, who began a tryout Sunday with the NFL team as a tight end. With the contract in place, the Eagles say they are now waiting on a visa for Zaruba.
The six-foot-five 265-pounder played football at high school and briefly at Simon Fraser University before focusing on rugby.
That is a lot of meat.

Also this is still crazy

The Super Rugby final is set with the Crusaders taking on the Lions in Johannesburg. These were the two best teams in the league both at 16-1 so far. The Lions are going for their first ever title while the Saders are going for their record 8th.

I've having a very hard time picking a winner but am leaning towards the Lions. The Crusaders are the better team and played a far tougher schedule this year but are travelling half way across the world to play at altitude. When the Hurricanes did the same last week they got off to a fast start but then collapsed getting out scored 34-5 in the 2nd half.

I am pulling for the Lions.

Had a mate that was involved in the youth coaching set up. After years of being the whipping boys of SA rugby, they deserve this win.

Also, I think it will be better for Super Rugby to have someone other than a NZ team, especially Crusaders win.

http://theprovince.com/sports/rugby/...ior-mens-coach

It is a broken shell of an organization.

Quote:
Mark Anscombe is out as head coach of the Canadian men’s rugby team.

The New Zealander lasted just over a year in the job — he was hired in March 2016.
Quote:
Anscombe wasn’t surprised by the decision but did express anger and frustration to The Canadian Press on Thursday.

“At the end of the day, the team is only the product of a system and the system is (broken),” Anscombe said. “And no one’s doing anything to improve it.

“What are we doing in this country to help the athlete? And the answer is absolutely nothing.”

After the team lost in June, he said he figured his term was likely up.

“A head was going to always go in this and I knew then, the day that (call for review) went out, that it was going to be mine. No matter what happened,” he said.

The stupid Crusaders won 25-16. It is the first time in Super Rugby history a team has won the final after traveling across the Indian Ocean.

The Saders got off to a fast start before a Lions red card pretty much handed them the trophy. It was a great effort by the Lions to keep things close however it wasn't quite good enough to prevent a second straight 2nd place finish.

Congratulations Crusaders. They had a hell of a season. That final should not have been in Johannesburg in the first place.

Canada won 98-0!

Next match is Sunday morning at 9:55 against Wales, and it seems like it will be on TSN3

Found the broadcast schedule, Sunday's match is on TSN3 for sure. The match next Thursday against New Zealand will be at 4:55 AM (ugh) on TSN1.

I didn't watch yesterday, but Canada defeated Wales 15-0 for our second shutout in a row!

The game was poorly ref'ed, Wales were allowed to infringe at the breakdown, game lacked flow, which is sad.

The ARU finally made an announcement and the Western Force are getting the boot from Super Rugby.

It is a dark day for Australian Rugby and the Force fans. Although they were never successful the team had managed to build Rugby Union support out of nothing and looked to finally be improving. I had thought the Rebels would be leaving since they were the worst team in the league and no one in Melbourne cares about Rugby however I can understand the decision as the Rebels have only been the league a few years and are in a much larger market.

The only thing that isn't controversial is that Super Rugby's expansion to 18 teams was a stupid short sighted decision.

All Blacks beat the living poop out of the Wallabies.

That was an interesting game.

The Wallabies were just a hot mess in the first half, disorganized and getting pulled all over the place and while the ABs played well it was just one-sided.

They got their poop in a group for the second half and that was much better, but the AB first-half Blitzkrieg was just insurmountable.

It really was a tale of two halves.

I stopped paying attention at halftime, appears I wasn't the only one.

The only positive I have is that the Wallabies scored their second most points ever again the All Blacks. The next game in Dunedin will be even more of a massacre.

It is a ####ing head scratcher.

The Wallabies have some world class players, Hooper, Beale is out of this work skill wise.

They are just not as polished as the AB's.
