I'm pretty sure the Women's Team has already been announced.

If we were able to send two teams, I don't think Gio would make either. Just too much depth with Canada.

Oh. I don't believe anymore.

I think a lot of people are selling him short here for fear of looking like homers. If Vlasic and Hamhuis are in the conversation, I see no reason why Gio hasn't been.

Hahaha gender equality.

Women's team has been set for some time.

I am taking my daughter and a few of her friends to see them play Jan 14 in Dead Rear.

I remember one of the first TSN projections about 3 years ago. Time flies.

Yeah, and Darren Pang had J. Schultz on the team before even playing an NHL game. LOL.

lol TSN

Been speculation for months now, and really amped up speculation for weeks, yet they still have to blab about it for an hour before the actual announcement.

Here I thought the announcement would be right away, but it's not for an hour.......I should have known.

They might be in the hypothetical Canada 2, but I know I would easily take Doughty, Subban, Keith, Seabrook, Weber, Pietrangelo, Bouwmeester, and Boyle all ahead of Gio, Vlasic, and Hamhuis.

It really is disappointing that we can send only one team, because we have the talent where it'd be feasible to win a pair of medals.

I found tsn's projected roster from 2 years ago. About half correct. Definitely a lot of Oilers Love back then.

I think it's about Vlasic (who seems to be who most think will be on it) vs Hamhuis vs Gio vs Boyle. And I don't think the spread between them is all that big. I personally, truth be told, would take Gio over the others. Not just for TC, as a player in general. I haven't seen much of Vlasic, and I think Hamhuis and Boyle are similar players, Boyles a little up there in age and I've never been a big Hamhuis guy.

I don't know about Seabrook and Boyle. Seabrook is definately in the same ballpark as Gio, Vlasic, and Hamhuis. People always raise his stock because he plays with Kieth but really he is not good enough to be a number 1 pairing Olympic defensemen. And on this team Kieth pairs with Weber or Doughty on the 1st or 2nd pairing so the idea of bringing along a linemate doesnt really make much sense.

As for Boyle I think he is getting old. I also haven't watched him at all this year so I am talking out of my ass.

For sure Gio, Hamhuis and Vlasic make Team Canada 2 though. There aren't 16 better Canadian defensemen then Gio.

Not likely at all that Canada B could compete with Canada A, the US, Russia, Finland, Sweden or (if led by intelligent coaching) the Czech Republic for a medal. They'd be battling Switzerland, Germany and Slovakia.
