Listening to Conroy interview on the fan this afternoon he indicated they had a couple deals in the works with various teams. Said the outcome of the trades was dependent on how the expansion draft played out. So I expect we'll see something before the draft on Friday.

Call me crazy, but I wouldn't mind Schlemko anchoring the bottom pairing (though I didn't look up his contract). Hopefully find someone better, but Schlemko should be a rather cheap acquisition.

Stajan and Bouma are both off the books after this year. We aren't likely to be contenders this year so we'll just have to ride those contracts out. If Brouwer doesn't rebound that will be an albatross contract, hopefully Treliving learns a lesson on that one.

The Stajan bashing is kinda weird. He has one year left on his deal at just over 3 mil. That contract isn't impossible to move. He isn't a useless player. He's obviously loved by his his teammates. It's not really a huge issue having him on the team next season imo.

Bouma should be in the AHL.

Actually his salary this year is only $2.5M despite a $3.125M cap hit.

Stajan 5v5, produced 3rd line centre offence with 4th line minutes and barely NHL level wingers.

His cap hit is high, but he's not that bad.

Stajan had a very strong year in his role. Pushed the puck up the ice, had nearly 25 points, was a + player and exceeded 50% in the dot. Please stop grouping him with Bouma and Brouwer.

Yea that Stajan hate is weird. He's slightly overpaid but a veteran leader on a young team who took a lot of important faceoffs last season. He's fine as a 4th line centre.

Certainly not a "get him out of the league" type with just one year left.

Some people and their dramatics.

He's fine, more just commenting on the collective cost of bottom line players. Makes it more difficult to fit in say a top line RW under the cap. Our 4th line should have entry level contracts and/or cheap contracts.

Stajan kind of reminds me of an overpaid Tom Kostopolous.
A pretty tough 4th liner who actually managed to get 20+ points consistently.

It's kind of cool how long he has been on the team. Who would've expected that?
Once his current contract is up, he'll be up there on the list of all time games played for the Flames.

Stajan is a great 4th line player, he simply makes way too much money. Bouma tries but his style of play has clearly taken a toll. Brouwer is just mailing it in and absolutely deserves all the hate.

Because he's a cool dude and a good bro. You know, all those intangibles...

Martin's contract is bad too. But if the Leafs ever did try and trade him I know there would be no takers and there would be no way they would get picks back.

Matt Martin and Stajan both are 4th liners and should be getting 1 million a year.

You're right. He's making way too much money, I don't think anyone will argue with you there

I was more saying he most be really old because I remember him from the Sundin days.

I liked Stajan when he was with the Leafs. Him and Steen were the future!

He is for sure a more useful player than Matt Martin but both are overpaid and no other team will be looking to trade for either player.

To be fair the guy most vocally bashing him is a TOR fan, not a Calgary fan

@frank_seravalli: Sounds like Marcus Kruger may indeed still be heading to VGK, possibly as soon as Thursday when the trade freeze is lifted.

So, I want TVR or Colin Miller for bottom pair RHD (also re-sign Stone) and Neal or Reilly Smith for top line RW.

Not sure what we have to give up to do that, but I admit if it's too costly then just keep building from within.
