I haven't lived here long enough to miss anything very much, but one thing is the Reef 'N'Beef. When I used to work near there a bunch of us would go there for the steak sandwich specials at lunch. I probably remember it better than it actually was. There was always a lot of smoke in the air and the people in trances playing at the VLTs.

was always my favourite. I saw 2001 - A Space Odyssey there as well as Led Zeppelin's The Song Remains thew Same. Funny, in both cases popcorn wasn't the strongest smell in the place.

Olympic?? I spent my Fridays in high school there.
There was some grey area as to whether we were actually allowed in because they sold alcohol and it felt like a bar but nobody ever ID'd us or complained. They wouldn't serve us alcohol but I remember the smokers bought cigarettes and smoked them in there with no problems.
I don't remember any snooker tables but that was 15 years ago.

Garage in Eau Claire still has a few tables. One of the closest things to a hall these days it seems.
They also had darts last time I was there.

The girls always seemed to find that shower super cold. I think I know why.

Random one but I remember as a kid going to Grandma Lee's in Midnapore Mall in the 1980's. My mother would go shopping at the grocery store there, and we would head over by ourselves (7,5,2 years old boys) to the cafe to watch bread being baked for 30 minutes.
I just look at my iPad obsessed kids and wonder how long they would last watching that. Can't even look out the car window anymore! *shakes old man fist*

I remember riding my bike to Bonaventure Dr & Canyon meadows (8, 9 years old) and looking beyond Fish Creek at nothing but prairie.
I stared out the window at nothing but flatland nature and cows for years on rides to my uncles farm. Only thing out the window now is big box stores. I don't blame your kids for preferring to watch a movie or play a game on their iPad.

Was back in CGY for a family function last month. I noticed:
- the old standalone movie theater on Heritage is now a bar. As kids that was the theater that our parents let us go to on our own (8-10 years old at the time).
- The water slide park is long gone I am sure (just didn't notice the last few visits). That little area seems very underdeveloped to me?
- The build up of stores across from Chinook. I remember a bingo hall and industrial buildings surrounding the fancy new C-train station.
- Many people remember the Chi-Chi's along Macleod - I am sure there was a Big Boy there also.
- are there still bottle depots?
- No story book characters on the hill next to Lake Bonavista.
- I looked, but didn't see the big "H" at the car dealer on Macleod. Is it still there?
Admittedly I was a bit oblivious as I was driving and my attention was divided between listing to dad's stories and not hitting the car in front of me.
