He's going to get at least two for sure.
He needs to be better at picking his spots.

He's now a repeat offender, he needs to be careful going forward.

Wasn't he already a repeat offender? He had the Doughty suspension as well.

Get it through your head Matthew, big brother is watching even if you don't think that the refs are going to see it!

The Doughty incident (elbow) and Witkowski incident (stick infraction) were under separate classes for disciplinary purposes. Since this is his second stick foul warranting supplemental discipline, he will be treated as a repeat offender for this incident. Which means he's going to forfeit more than double the salary he otherwise would have during his suspension.

The thing the Friedman said during intermission made me chuckle. If he gets suspended, between this and the Detroit suspension, they will be the softest stick foul suspensions ever. Probably not even enough force between the two of them to move a puck 10 feet.

There have been numerous quotes from Flames players and brass talking about how Tkachuk is the heartbeat of the team and the team goes as he goes. I highly doubt that this will limit a single player on the teams desire to stand up for him going forward.
also, I think he gets 2 games but I feel like he only deserves a fine

This 100%. He is under the microscope for several different reasons, but neither one of the "infractions" should warrant suspensions. It just doesn't make sense in how major blows to the head are dealt with vs stick taps. To be suspended for what happened in Detroit was a joke, a suspension here would also be a joke.

Man some of these posts on here are ridiculous. Yes it was a dirty play but the kid is 19. How many of you were doing dumb #### at 19? Hes been one of the most important players on our teams the last 2 years and he will learn from these last two incidents

He gets 2 games, the team rallies in his absence and beats Montreal 3-0 tonight.

If I did stupid **** like that at my job when I was 19, I would have been canned on the spot. Chucky is skating a thin line with the NHL already. He should know better.
He needs to pick his battles better, he should know anything from the bench is a no go in the NHL. It's not doing the team any good if he's suspended.

Matt Martin said after that he didn't even feel it or notice until he seen the video, and basically didn't think it was a big deal rather just a childish play. Babcock basically said the same thing, didn't realize until someone mentioned it in the intermission

Oh I agree, I bet the spear never touched the player yesterday...
However with the league its the intent which is the problem.

He'll be suspended because it's generating media attention to it.
At least the kid is playing with an edge. Doesn't seem like many others (Brouwer cough cough) are

Flames are a better team with him in the lineup, so anytime he gets himself suspended he is hurting the team. So, if a harsher punishment is what he needs to learn what he can/can't do, then so be it.
|
No, what makes sense is you wish for him to learn his lesson, or to develop restraint. This is wishing for 5 games.

Babcock also said that it's junior hockey stuff and he's right, those kind of antics need to no longer be part of your game as a NHLer. Don't get me wrong, I love Tkachuk's motor and his willingness to go hard to the net and get things stirred up, but jabbing guys from the bench needs to be eliminated from his game.
