Oilers hire Gulutzan and Yawney as Assistant Coaches UPD: Viveiros hired as well
Edmonton Oilers hire two former head coaches to help Todd McLellan next year, Gregor confirms
http://edmontonjournal.com/sports/ho...regor-confirms
Quote:
This in from TSN1260’s Jason Gregor, confirmation that the Oilers have hired Glen Gulutzan and Trent Yawney as asst. coaches, with one more hire to come: “I have it confirmed that Gulutzan and Yawney have signed with the Oilers. There’s another coach they’re going to sign, they’re just waiting, and there will be an announcement with that in the near future.”
TSN’s Ryan Rishaug added: “I like this staff they’ve put in place. I think they were aggressive. They spent some money. They brought in two high-end legit guys and I think they’ve really done a good job beefing up this coaching staff.”

No.............way.
I think GG is much better suited to be an assistant, so it's not a terrible hire. Just funny to see him go to the dark side so quickly.

It doesn't surprise me, he seems to be pretty good buddy's with Todd M.

I'm actually happy GG was able to catch on somewhere, he did seem like a good guy and it's never enjoyable campaigning for a guy to lose his job. I also think he's much better suited to be an assistant.

Happy for GG getting a new gig as he seems like a nice guy, but also looking forward to see him flabbergasted and searching for answers in the perpetual train-wreck that is the Oilers. He's in for twice as much disappointment as that team continues to spin it's wheels in no-goodness.

I'm sure Glen is going to be stellar at teaching the Oilers how to consistently lose to the Oilers

Poor guy is basically demoted and forced to relocate to Edmonton. He is dead to me as a coach but I feel bad for him as a person.

Oilers interest in Brouwer just skyrocketed.
Hopefully we can swing a deal so they can get their powerplay rockin', never to change again.

Oilers hire Glen Gulutzan and Trent Yawney as Assistant Coaches
He was always an Oiler, and our hate was always justified because of it.
All is right in the world...or something. Seems like a stand up guy, so wish him the best - but nothing but failure for the Oilers as always.

Gulutzan is a good person and it's good to see him find another job so quickly. But Edmonton? Yikes, that's gotta suck. I feel sorry for his wife and kids more than anything. Have fun in Dumpsterville, Gully. You are now my enemy.

I’m not convinced Gulutzan hasn’t been on the payroll in Edmonton for a couple of years now...

Well, the news that he's going to be an assistant coach is kind of like those M. Night Shyamalan movies after Sixth Sense.

How's that for swirling down the drain. Vancouver to Calgary to Edmonton, what's next, Buffalo?
