Ideally you'd nab one of the big name up and comers but they seem to be holding out for a head job. Guys like Keefe and Montgomery. Hell I bet even Nelson would rather be the head guy in the AHL than an assistant here

Paul MacLean for the PP. Did Peters and him not work under Babcock in Detroit at the same time? They should have a good working relationship then. Not sure who comes in to coach D.

We could Oiler it up (mind you these guys all do these jobs for real).
Joel Otto - PK and faceoffs
Gary Roberts - fitness
Tim Hunter - player motivation
Frank Musil - defence
Joe Mullen - PP

I think Playfair would make a decent option for the PK. Flames did a good job this season under Jerrard, but he was also in charge of the defence as a whole and I thought they could have been better defensively 5on5. Playfair is about as experienced as one could hope when it comes to being an assistant.
I don't know enough about Hunter's coaching, but without a doubt he has a lot of experience.
Nate Leaman is an interesting choice. I am not sure he would leave, but who knows. I think he has a great mind for the game, and Providence was a very well-rounded team, and he made Union into a powerhouse when he was there. Won championships with both programs after building both programs - he gets a nod from me.
Montgomery is another name I wouldn't mind either, but it does look like he may get hired as a head coach this season.
Maclean gets my vote - but with all the movement this off-season, I would be surprised if he doesn't land a head coaching position somewhere.

Isn't Mike Yeo still head coach of the Blues? I don't think he got fired. And we kept Sigalet

Oh.. I would love to have Lindy Ruff for the PP and forwards. He may end up being the head coach for the NYR, but if not and ends up looking for something else, he would be my #1 choice as an assistant. Could really compliment Peters and offer a differing perspective on the transition, zone entries and the PP.

We have kept Sigalet so far, because he was not someone brought in as part of Gulutzan's coaching team. That doesn't mean that he will remain if the new HC wants someone else.

Does anyone have insight into Trevor Letowski? Seems to be an up and coming coach in the OHL and Hockey Canada. Ran the PP at the world juniors which was pretty impressive

Why not? He has been working as an assistant in the NHL since 1997 until becoming the head coach Moose Jaw.
I don't know ENOUGH of his coaching to expertly have a valid opinion of him one way or the other (and I am sure there are some people who do have enough insight).
What makes you feel it would be a poor decision?

Not sure about how much say hothead goalies have in to their coach, or frankly even what goalie coaches do for the bulk of their time.
If they actually made a huge difference, where is Marcoux? Or McLennan, I guess.

Great idea, let's bring up a losing coach as an assistant to our new losing coach. Let's hire Dallas Eakins as the other assistant, might as well go all in.

I am not thrilled about Peters but if it is what it is let's surround him with good assistants and not some guy who has done nothing in Stockton.

Would still prefer one experienced assistant. Paul MacLean maybe?
