From a strict fan perspective and for broadcast enjoyment experience, I am glad he's gone. His constant arrogance and know-it-all attitude always rubbed me the wrong way.
From a strict human perspective, good riddance to the human garbage.

I didnt mind him on the broadcast, not going to miss him either.
I guess we get more of that other guy now, cant even remember his name lol
Would like it if they could get Schulman full time, then move Buck to color. And Tabby can just not be there anymore.

I will miss his analyst takes because he’s One of the few on Sportsnet who actually take the Jays to task from time to time.
Not one bit surprised about the allegations though. Have a few friends in the hospitality/bar industry in Toronto and have heard some pretty wild stories from them, but that was quite a few year’s ago now.

On the first, that was why I liked him. Zaun was a good foil to everyone else.
On the second, totally agreed.

Blue Jay broadcasts just got significantly better. Replace Tabler and we're set.

It has been quite the topic of conversation here in Ontario and from what I have been hearing today, the wild stories continued on.

@LangoschMLB:
#STLCards have traded Aledmys Diaz to #BlueJays in exchange for minor league outfielder J.B. Woodman.

Good trade for Toronto.
In his rookie season (2016) he was an all-star with great offensive numbers. Jays are buying low as he struggled in 2017 missing most of the season with a thumb injury.
His defence is sup-par but his bat (if to potential) makes up for it.
Young, versatile (plays IF and OF) which obviously fills a glaring need, and some potential to work with. A major league ready prospect traded for a longer term (albeit a good one) project. Fits the "window to win" Donaldson period more so than the guy we gave up.

No Goins. That’s a little surprising to me.
Quote:
The Toronto Blue Jays parted ways with infielder Ryan Goins and replaced him with Aledmys Diaz, an all-star shortstop in 2016 acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals for outfield prospect J.B. Woodman.
Along with Goins, the club also sent right-hander Tom Koehler to the open market. Both players weren’t extended 2018 offers by the Blue Jays ahead of Friday’s 8 p.m. ET deadline for tendering contracts to arbitration-eligible players.
Josh Donaldson, Marcus Stroman, Roberto Osuna, Aaron Sanchez, Kevin Pillar, Aaron Loup, Devon Travis, Ezequiel Carrera and Dominic Leone were all tendered contracts and will either have to agree to terms or settle matters in a hearing room.

Goins may still re-sign (similar to the Thole situation a couple years back) but looking at this move as a whole, the Jays seem committed to upgrading their middle IF depth and the subtraction of Goins and the addition of Diaz certainly gets that started in the right direction.

2017-2018 Blue Jays Off-Season Thread
@Ken_Rosenthal: Yet another twist in #Braves’ front-office saga. Team announces Andrew Tinnish has withdrawn from recently announced position as VP of amateur and international scouting to remain with #BlueJays.
@Ken_Rosenthal: Statement from #Braves says Tinnish withdrew due to “personal family considerations.”

Fun fact.
In his rookie year he was the first player in history to sustain a .500 batting average after 50 at bats

He could but I doubt it. Aledmys Diaz strikes me as "Plan B" for upgrading the infield... fallback option if they can't get anything better (Nunez,Gordon etc. etc.) So if they get that then Goins would be third or fourth in line for a MLB spot (Opening Day guy, Diaz, Urena, Goins).
I still think it's a good trade... Woodman K's way way way way to much. If you have that kind of swing and miss at A ball then it doesn't portend well for your baseball future. It's basically Diaz for nothin' and that's the right kind of price to take a flyer on a guy like Diaz.

Jays out of the running on Ohtani. Which was to be expected.
The pleasant surprise is the Red Sox and Yankees have also been eliminated.

Cashman made it sound like he's going to the west coast. And apparently he wants to go to a small market team.
If he wants to hit and pitch......San Diego? What if San Fran got him and Stanton?

Thing is if he wants to hit and pitch then the AL works best. Unless he wants to Hit and Pitch AND field.
Seattle. Of the rumored short list... only "issue" is that their DH is really good and their corner outfielders are also pretty good (but that's not a huge deal Nelson Cruz can handle taking a couple of LF turns per rotation... helps get some regular maintenance for the outfielders) so the upgrade with the bat will be more marginal (mostly through health via the extra day off).

@ShiDavidi: #BlueJays head trainer George Poulis leaves #BlueJays to become #Braves director of player health and head athletic trainer.
@bnicholsonsmith: #BlueJays' training staff will have a new look next year. Assistant trainer Mike Frostad & strength coach Chris Joyner were fired after the season. Poulis now leaves for Braves.
